Im looking for something solid and opaque that melts and turns transparent when you pour boiling water water onto it.

Oh and it has to be edible or drinkable, and taste nice.

Depends on how solid and how transparent but you could even pick a flavour?

That could work, thank you.

I need to hide some writing (invitation) on the inside of a teacup. Im hoping that when they put boiling water into the cup it reveals the invitation.

I forgot to say that I need to post it, or deliver it personally to my friends doorsteps.

So it needs to last at least 6 hours.

who looks at/in their cup whilst drinking from it? who drinks clear hot water so you can read it? (aside from my parents as they are bizarre)

Depending on what message you are trying to spell out you could try Caesium

Gelatin mixed with blackcurrant ribena or some other opaque liquid mixed into it?

Pour melted chocolate into the mug, just thick enough to cover the message at the bottom, then allow to set. Deliver to your guests with instructions to fill with hot milk and stir for a hot chocolate with a surprise at the bottom.

ETA: just realised you want to see through the liquid so chocolate won't work.

a gellan/gelatin mix will solidify into a jelly when set, and remain jellified when hot
