Wall mountable soundbar - £500ish?
Discussion
Hi all,
Just pondering the lounge tv/sound bar installation (complete house renovation, lounge is final thing).
considering an LG 60LA620V (or 740V) for the tv, and as we can channel into the walls etc, want a soundbar at the same time.
Love the look (and sound) of the Yamaha 2200, but it's only shelf mountable (i.e. can't mount on a wall). It's looks exactly what I'm after, but I want the clean look on the wall the tv's going on, so want it wall mountable.
Any suggestions for similarly respected soundbar (with sub...wireless or not doesn't matter) but that I can screw to the wall and looks sexy?!
Thanks

Not sure if you have a Blu Ray player already, but I have an LG 620V TV, and bought an LG BB5530A soundbar/Blu ray to sit under it. It is wall mountable, though I use a shelf.
The advantages of using the same make are a big plus, since you can use the ARC to have literally one cable running from your TV to your Soundbar, so very clean and easy to set up. It has a 3D blu ray built in as well, which can upscale to 4K (if that's a consideration), and has Smart features accessible via the built in WiFi.
So for web, Smart, BluRay/DVD, and sound, you have one compact device and one cable. The subwoofer is wireless up to 30 feet, so you can stash it behind a sofa. It's the ultimate in clean and simple, plus the LG remote for TV has the Blu Ray player controls on it so you only need to use one remote.
Sounds good too, but I would recommend using the custom user settings for adjusting base etc, as is a base heavy out of the box.

Interestingly, I just bought the 42LA620V at christmas too - and like it so much, I'm tempted by the 60.
I did consider the sonos playbar but with no extra sub, and the money compared to the YSP2200 which Richersounds have at £500, I much preferred the yamaha.
I think I'm going to end up with a floating shelf. It will look nice of course, though I was after that completely clean look. But that Yamaha does look very good value at the moment.

How about this? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-RSfgYAzLS5t/p_051VMA2...
Ooo thanks I'll have a look at that.
I went to Richer Sounds this evening and compared the YSP-2200 with PlayBar. Must say, even though you can tell the playbar is missing a sub, I was still very impressed, and as I have other Sonos stuff now too, think I'm going to go with that. Also, and this does matter; the playbar looks sexy. The yamaha looks terrible!

I pondered long and hard over this very dilemma.
In the end I wall mounted a 2200. It wasn't that hard, I had some IKEA bookends which were just L shaped pieces of metal. I used a hacksaw to cut them down a bit, sprayed them black with hammerite and drilled holes in them to screw them to the wall. The adjustable feet on the 2200 come right off so it looks very clean the sound bar just floats.
Nothing else sounded like it.

On the Yamaha 2200, would you be willing to cavity out the wall for a smart tidy tailored install? This depends on what you have to work with; solid brick, gyproc / kit, chimney etc.
Yeah, it's an empty derilict room at the moment which I'm about to decorate, so I'm deciding tv and soundbar now to be able to locate switches/cables in the wall. It's a brick wall, so chasing is a pain but not impossible.

Fit conduit into the wall - so you can change cables in the future. It's a brick wall, so chasing is a pain but not impossible.
Tony,
This is the plan for our living room (hopefully to be sorted shortly).
TV will be mounted on a new stud wall (the plan is to have the stud wall double depth to allow the TV to sit "inside" the wall). You could do the same for the soundbar (just create a smaller recess).

Option 2 (if you didn't want to build a 'chimney' style stud wall) could be a floating wall. Similar process tv mounted on the rear wall, stud work used to encase the tv and then either finished with mdf or plasterboard.

Ya - in fact I'm probably overdoing it a bit. I "need" one HDMI and power. Then TV to soundbar. What I'm actually running from cabinet to tv is 3 x HDMI, cat6, speaker wire (x2), and a draw cable. all separately in a conduit each. Who knows what I'll be doing in 2...3yrs with it.The speaker cable is either for a sub, or IR repeater, or nothing. If I go for a PlayBar, the sub can be wireless anyway (as many others are), but I'm running the cable just in case.
These past couple of months I've bought, and learnt, so much about modern home "infotainment". Having been out of the game for a couple of years, I'm amazed at just how much interconecctivity there is. everything is connected to everything; my ipad is controlling sonos, tivo, my lg tv. which is pulling movies from my pc. Which is feeding sonos. etc. All of the devices want to get me on to you tube, iplayer, etc. though!
