I am not a big poster here, so will forgive anyone for forgetting about my "buying" thread.

However I have secured a car, and will get the obligatory pictures when Its delivered ( V8 vantage by the way )

In the meantime, I want to get a reg in place for it.

So far I have

V8 00 WTF

I wanted something like V8 WTF, V8 OMG, V8 AML, V8 FTW etc. etc..

I am an IT manager so geek speak works well, but richer people already beat me to them all !

Some background..

Work in IT and comms.
Names Dan
Car is a v8 Vantage
Online handle of cableguy

Anyone fancy 5 mins with the DVLA checker and give me some ideas ?

There's a chap who lives near me that has TCP 1P on a Range Rover. He's not actually in IT but bought it years and years ago as the first three letters are his initials. I'm sure he's been offered plenty for it already but seems to be keen to keep it.

How about V8 IRL though?

I don't know if FTW, WTF, OMG and their ilk are in the spirit of Aston Martinness.

V8 00 HEX is available. I'm not a fan of plates that say 'nearly' the thing, like V800 instead of V8, but it's not my plate.

Yes, I did think it may be slightly off the mark with the sophisticated nature of the car, but I am willing to go against the grain a little, I think deep down I want to sort of fly in the face of the typical "retired gentleman" stereotype.

V8 00 WTF was sort of V8 oohhh WTF , spaced illegally of course, but not illegally enough to be silly.

If you're getting the plinth taken off at the front, I'd consider a plate with no more than 5 characters in order to get a smaller plate than standard at the front, whilst keeping the font legal, as per a couple of very recent threads

assume you've checked for V8 D** to represent whatever your initials are ? An awful lot of V12V owners, myself included, have V12 and then their intitials

Looking at the price of V8 plates which seem ridiculously over priced, why not bite the bullet, and buy a plate you could keep forever on what ever car you have.

Dan is a great name for plate, here's a few at reasonable costs, but still negotiate hard if buying.

what if you dont have a V8 in future ?

just get something you like for fun maybe unrelated to the car, initials , nickname etc and keep forever or until someone offers you silly money for it

plates seem to go up in value better than money in the bank, certainly all the daft £189 plates Ive aquired over the years have done well

There are a lot of plates available with 'GAY' in them, which presumably everyone will realise refers to Gaydon.

I will add some more information...

V85 LOW is not availible smile

Max budget of around £500.

All I am really after is something to hide the age of the car, and to make it look a little more special.

Not fussed on keeping the plate, when its on the car it can stay.

100 grand car, 500 quid OT plate. Does not compute in my book I'm afraid. I'd take time to have a good look around the web - search for personalised registrations - and something 'more fitting' may turn up.
Your car though pal, you do what floats your boat this is simply an opinion :-)
I made an offer on the plate I have (1 and my initials). Surprising how much I cheekily got off. Don't be afraid to put offers in (can't do this on DVLA site though!)

AMV 4S available at £400 reserve in tomorrow's DVLA timed auction http://www.dvlaauction.co.uk/index.php/timed-aucti...

Could be worth a punt considering the name of the latest model.

I agree with the Count!!! I rather suspect others will think the worst. As for abbreviations… NQOCD. Not quite our class darling… Some of the other recommendations should scratch your itch but the last thing you want is to have a plate that says WTF and others thinking WAK. soapbox

Best of luck looking and let us know what you go for please.
