SL55F1 iPhone connectivity
Discussion
Hi Jack,
Congratulations on the acquisition - the F1 is a lovely thing. The front spoiler is one of the best subtly, visual addendums, worked on a car. So many manufacturers go overboard with these things. But M-B, got it right.
I've got not much to add except to say, that I simply use a usb/cigar socket convertor to juice up any ancillaries. For me it's the only demerit for the R230: when you're on a fairly long cruise or shuttle, it's not the best for little spaces to sling away your blackberry or iPhone. It's short on immediate (to hand) small storage space. But much like Kim Sears taste in nail varnish, the pleasures outweigh the inconveniences.
About COMAND, from what I guess, newer versions kicked in around 2005. So whilst earlier iterations could allow say "PE3" inputted for Peterborough, it's still a bit nascent.
Have you had a look here? These guys could potentially bring you into 2014...

So I've just bought a 2004 SL55 with the F1 performance pack and love it.
What's the best way to connect an iPhone to it? I can stick it into the AUX socket but that doesn't charge or control it. Any ideas?
Also, can I put postcodes into the sat nav?
Thanks
Jack
