Having bought a new BMW (the last one was Used Approved) last week, I've had a good look through various brochures, the website then been given a welcome pack and some link to a video via a weird USB stick.

Anyone else think the marketing is incredibly cringey? The 1 series brochure goes on about being "individual" and "sporting" and makes suggestions as to the sort of person that buys one. The general marketing stuff is just some vacuous waffle about more lifestyle nonsense.

BMW - you make good cars (mostly); stop using utter drivel to try and sell cars, especially to those that have just bought one!

Totally Agree.

I read some drivel about the M135i being 30% 'M' DNA, made up by a Marketing manager.
More like 3% in reality and why discussions about those take place in the M section of this forum I have no idea...

Some people like to hear that stuff I guess, especially if they've been saving up a while for the car. If it bothers you then don't read it.

A bit harsh, you 135i owners are very defensive.

You come across as a keyboard warrior with a chip on your shoulder conforming to Richard Porter's excellent piece in Evo about car forums.

Nice.

Give it a rest now, there's a good "lifestyle" boy....

Isn't it time for your back/sack/crack wax and eyebrow pluck now?

I don't get it. The M135i is universally slagged off by the style police here as a fugly car. So if you choose it despite that, maybe for the way it drives (you never know), it really is quite the opposite to a lifestyle choice. Reference to hair removal in relation to a car is normally a freudian projection. As you were.

Lifestyle comment didn't originate with me....the OP made the connection between the marketing material and car.

FWIW, I like the M135.

I just object to being considered a c**t by the OP in the above sweeping statement.

As it goes, I can be....but I don't believe I've shown my hand enough yet for that conclusion to be made.

No idea what your suggestion of a Freudian projection is??

Fully agree, why not use the BMW section? Beats me. Most of this part of the forum is now taking up by threads on 135is.

It's a new form of head-up display co-developed by BMW and //M (70-30 split I believe) that tells you the fastest way through a supermarket car-park and records your best times

We do 90% of our grocery shopping on-line. Should I send the car back?

Send it back, use the cash to buy the car which proves that Einstein was wrong with his General Theory of Relativity - the CSL... silly

Yes, you need to be doing at least 70% of your shopping at the supermarket for it to start making sense I believe! wink
