Tuscan Challenge engine on Fleabay...
Discussion
Like most TC parts difficult to price. if you've got one worth nothing, if you need one its priceless..
Dont forget the race motor is significantly different to the Road car engine, and you cant just swap one for the other they dont fit without mods, they also made maybe 100 race blocks max, so how many of them are left...
if you want to run an ajp challenge car exactly to challenge spec where are you going to find one. thats the only other complete engine I've seen for sale in a couple of years.
The condition is unknown but as long as nothing is broken it can be refreshed. so i think the opening value is about right ( he's been offered that) I's say the value is somewhere between 4-8
Thats why My challenge car has a rover under the bonnet !!!

Interesting, what are the differences between the road ajp and the ones used in the TC cars?
Edit: on face value of the photos it has a pump drive on both sides and no oil breather on the timing chain cover, I wonder about the internials ?

if you look at the road engine it has a wing on the bottom of both sides with the pumps behind them, the road engine only has one wing. so the block and front cover is different to the road engine. the sump is different, dry as opposed to wet.Edit: on face value of the photos it has a pump drive on both sides and no oil breather on the timing chain cover, I wonder about the internials ?

steel crank and cams were the main internal differences and they can be swapped out. the block and front cover is the main difference, iirc the dry sump pumps were also paired with the blocks as well so difficult to mix and match easily.
things like water rails and ancillaries are different but they are interchangable
The road car engine doesn't drop straight into a challenge car as the wet sump fouls the chassis, and the ancillaries and wiring is different ( challenge ecu and loom was different to stop you doing more hours than you were supposed to on the engine testing etc. the ecu has a factory resettable timer. you can obviously rewire the tc car to take the stock ecu.
to put the racer engine in a road car I understand the extra wing and the fry sump pump fouls thing, but i've never tried

Its been suggested by an ex factory ajp engine builder that this is an early pre production melling engine ( id from the photos)
The factory destroyed all the ones they had, so this must have come from melling at some point.
unfortunately this means its different from everything else, :-( pity as its a very rare find.
