LG Magic remote and Virgin box

I'm not sure if this should be in here or the home cinema section? (sorry if it is the wrong section)
anyway, I've just bought an LG LN578V smart TV which comes with a magic remote
I've gone through the set up etc and the remote works, kind of.
My problem is, it wont change channel.
well it does, but only one channel (say i'm on 104, it will switch between that and 105, but no others. Thats using the channel up button and also the wheel.
also, when i pop out the type pad on the screen using the remote, I can only click 2 numbers instead of three?
ie, i want channel 211, i can only type 21, then the next 1 wont appear so i cant get the channel
does anyone know whats going on?
every other function on it works, i just cant change channel!
like i say the TV is a lg ln578v, the remote is a AN-M400H, and im using a virgin media VBox HD
