Ford F-150 'Future of Tough': PH Ad Break

A truckin' good commerical for Ford's new pick-up

The new Ford F-150 is perhaps the most significant American car launched at Detroit. Sure, we love ogling 600hp Corvettes and the latest Mustang, but the F-Series truck is massive for Ford in every sense. Always has been, always will be.

This latest promo vid deserved an Ad Break slot as it's just so unashamedly arrogant and self-aggrandising. We know it's a success, Ford knows it's a success, so why not just promote that a teeny bit further?

There are also some amazing stats on offer. For example, if you lined up each F-150 sold in 2013 nose-to-tail, it would stretch from Los Angeles to New York. An F-Series truck is sold every 41 seconds. It is the Future of Tough. Says Ford.

With the new F-150, there's just more of everything. More engine choice, more payload, more towing capacity, more LEDs. It's apparently more efficient too, though Ford won't say by how much.

With its intense backing music and mention of 'Truck apps', an '8-inch productivity screen' and a 'military-grade alloy body', it's almost enough to make you pack it all in and give the American Dream a real go. Make ours a red double-cab V8 please Ford.

Put a roof on the back, give it 9 seats with the two rear benches being removable and bring it to the UK. I'd put some bull bars on it and drive it through some walls.

Liked the black & white glimpses so the vintage pick-ups at the start, but the rest of it was basically an advert to reassure me that I was right to buy a Land Rover Defender.

God Bless the Atlantic.

They are each 2 miles long though. a mate had one of the last generation and it wasn't bad but bloody enormous on British roads.

This alone is a good enough reason to get one.

Lordy, American adds lay it on thick don't they. I was waiting to see a chicken stability gag.

Much want....

I actually quite like that.

I have always fancied a twin cab pickup, perfect for a trip to wales with the enduro and trials bikes on the back!

I bet they don't make a version that hasa 240v on board power supply though!

It would look pretty stupid with 3 pin 13 amp sockets on the dash!

I believe he was referring to the fact the F150 comes with 110V sockets (US standard plug sockets) in the dash, and if they exported it to the UK, they wouldn't put our standard plug sockets in there.

Exactly, although for the type of amperage for most devices, such as mobile phone chargers and ipad chargers, they are 110-240v range chargers anyway, so they would be fine!

They all run off 5v usb anyway. I'm struggling to think what people use that they fit a 110v for other than maybe fridges or laptops (both of which are easily available in 12v form)
