Hi Everyone
Bit of a no noob question sorry, but a little confused with ecu mapping.
Is it an ecu out bench job or can it be performed via the OBD?
Plus any recommendations for this service around West Yorkshire?

EVOsit or Softronic or FVD is my advice, the latter 2 you can do your self. EVOsit is only done down in Southampton as far as I am aware.

all via port.

would not use any one else, unless proven a lot more, there is a Surry RR soon with some one mapping Porsche's, but not much info on that.

You will get the normal people saying not worth it on a NA engine, so get ready.

I am not about to say it is not worth it.... but looking at 2 of the suppliers the gains seem to be in the region of 10bhp on the 2.9l engine (mine) and 0.1s on the 0-60 dash. For a product in excess of £1000 plus invalidation of any warrantee it would not be my first choice. Hell, the OPC sport button costs less than that (http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X7SM.html) - was quoted £750 by Reading a couple of years ago.

I would say never tune a 2.7/2.9 car, always put the money towards a 3.4.

easy get over 10bhp on the Cayman/Boxster range just from the remap.

Porsche even did it to some of their own cars from 310bhp to 330bhp :-)

Which model has 330BHP? I thought the 987 Spyder / Cayman R are 321 and the current 981S is 315

Regardless, £1k for a highly questionable best case scenario of 10BHP, even on a 987 2.7 that's only 4% and will only feel noticeable as the throttle map will be made more aggressive / sensitive. In a 2.7 the car will still be unable to accelerate away from today's hot hatches or decent engined diesels, even the 3.4 would struggle. If more power is needed this mod will disappoint, money would be best spent putting £20kish into a 997S or 996TT.

you are missing the point in why we want to own Spyders and R's or even normal Caymans and Boxsters.

the remap makes the car drive nicer even if there were no BHP gain, POrsche have to get the co2 and noise level right which does cause flat sports on the cars.

forget the R and Spyder for a minute

standard Boxster is 310bhp the black ed is 330BHP porsche have head room in the 3.4 lump.

my R remapped by Porsche is a much smoother map than my Spyder which I am told is just the standard Cayman S map.

specs are here 330bhp :-) and 100mph in 10.2 seconds not many hot hatch backs, let alone a rep oilburner can match 10.2 to a ton :-)

pretty much perfect performance on UK roads.

Hi all.

Considering the FVD mygenius tool for my boxster Spyder.

I have headers / backbox so looking to cement that with a tune.

I'm not massively concerned with outright power - more driveability / removing the flat spot

Does anyone have any experience?

The FVD is a bespoke map - you send them a download of your car op parameters and they send you back a bespoke map
