Can anyone recommend a brand of shorts/long legged pants that have comfortable padding? I recently got back into cycling (road) but can't for the life of me find anything that keeps me comfortable for much more than half an hour. After that, the jolly old jewels start to get more and more uncomfortable and completely detract from the enjoyment. I'd like to think it's because I'm well endowed but alas I'm not!
Depends on your size and weight
I would bet that your bike setup is more to blame than padding, you want your sit bones to support your weight and ensure your saddle is not too high or low. I was having a couple of issues last week on my new Brooks saddle, I followed the instructions on their website and this week it is lots better.
Try tilting the saddle slightly back so the weight is supported on your undercarriage less
Also look at different types of saddles, ones with a cutout might help
There are loads of guides and videos online regarding setting up a bike
Consider a "Bike Fit" if you want to take cycling seriously

Agreed with the posts above. If you are correctly set up on your bike then you can ride most distances without any padding.
Having padded shorts does not sound like the solution to your issues. Visit your local bike shop or fitter and get looked at properly. Different saddles suit different arses

I've had it before on a rental bike that wasn't set up properly, the saddle was set ever so slightly nose-up, which was putting pressure on the bit between your nuts and ass - the gooch, or whatever it's called.
Over time this was turning my bits numb, but the worst part was when I stopped for a piss it felt I was pissing out lava, the pain was horrendous.
Once adjusted to a less nose-up position I was able to sit on my sit-bones properly and the pressure was taken off my gooch, the pain never returned.

Back?End of the day everyone is different, I just try and get it so my sit bones are on the widest part of the saddle at the back and that too much pressure isn't being placed on my gooch
I have an ISM Adamo saddle I am just about to stick on Ebay if anyone is interested, quite a revolutionary design to deal witht the issue:

Surprise suprise eh? Actually I was a keen mountain biker for many years, then stopped for a few years and have now started cycling again but on the road.

My beef is not with cyclists per se, it's with the inconsiderate t
t variety who seem to think that red lights/pedestrian walkways/rules of the road/consideration for other road users don't apply to them. I think most cyclists would probably agree too.Still, nice to see I can still cause the odd suprise. now and then, just don't tell George!

I'm in full agreement with you on the "t
t variety". In my defence it's not how your response read. To me it seemed a sweeping statement. And pricks like George need no more springboards to launch off. No matter. We can be friends now.
Sorry; I can't promise I may not "out you" to George at some point!

Be careful what you ask...A big issue can be folds. Not folds in the fabric of what you're wearing (although these will also create pressure points) but folds in your nut sack. To eliminate folds, hook your index finger gently into your nutsack, and pull up so as to remove any slack/folding potential from the bits of you that you'll have your weight on. Some well fitting lycra shorts will hold everything in place.
Another aid here is chamois cream. Apply fairly liberally to the obvious places before a ride (or apply to the pad of your shorts if you'd prefer). Beware any brands that have a hint of Deep Heat in them though!

This sounds like an area that an obliging girlfriend or wife should become involved with. Particularly the cream application bit.A big issue can be folds.
