Lexus LFA at the 'ring: Time For Tea?

If the FT-1 does preview another Toyota supercar, it has one hell of a vehicle to match

Toyota has done a very good job of reminding all in cardom why we love motor shows at Detroit; the FT-1 was a brilliant surprise and the Lexus RC F is reputedly better in the flesh than on a screen. Maybe there's still something left in this poking around new metal in an exhibition hall for a while yet.

But Toyota and Lexus shot themselves in the foot slightly by bringing an LFA along also, as seen in Chris's first Detroit blog. The perfectionist's supercar, the Lexus to lust after and in possession of one of the finest engines ever produced.

The Nurburgring Package made the LFA even more expensive with another 10hp plus some suspension and aero tweaks. It served a purpose too, with the car lapping the Nordschleife in 7:14. That's 11 seconds quicker than an Aventador or an SLS Black Series.

So here is that 'ring lap again, unfortunately rendered in fairly low quality. But the absurd speed can certainly be seen, even if the beautiful noise isn't recorded that well. See Lexus's LFA Bruntingthorpe video for that.

Enjoy it

What an Engine!!!

I wonder how close a Stripped out and mildly tuned M6 V10 would be to this? (and somewhat more attainable for us non sheiks).

The LFA is one of the new comer to my all time top car list. But it deserves its place, it really does. That second video at Bruntingthorpe seals the deal!

Japan started out at the bottom of the car tree with inexpensive economy small cars. Then moved to the midsize, then upto full size, then onto luxury around 1989 (Lexus).

Now it seems that Toyota are beating Ferrari at their own supercar game.

I wonder if it is as reliable and easy to run as the cars intended for us mere motals...

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Lexus was on road tires that set the time too, not the road legal slicks that other cars used.

I may be wrong, And will gladly be corrected lol!

No where near. The lfa's chassis and suspension is on a different planet.

Given the cost difference you wouldn't expect any different

The engine note sounded boring :/

The revs rose right...
Car rode right...
Everything was just right but it sounded like a civic :/

I love my IS-F. The LFA must be unbelievable.

As for saying an LFA sounds like a Honda Civic, that's the funniest thing I've read so far in 2014 !

What? They were involved in the development of cylinder heads and famously "tuning" the exhaust note but I don't think they solely designed and built the whole engine. I gots some Yamaha know-how in my S-series too, so their input has been about for a while.

Now, perhaps they could build a V10 quad bike.

Stevie, as another ISF owner, I too feel quite pleased to have a car that was also tuned by Yamaha .......and it is pretty damn good for it. Like many others have said, for me, the LFA is close to automotive nirvana.

Sounds like a Honda Civic?.............. nono
