I have a car and I'd like to buy another - I've seen one in the classifieds, which is being sold privately. It's possible for me to (just about) purchase the new car, own both and then sell the Elise in a few months. However, is there any way I can minimize my outgoings with regards to insurance? Even though the Elise lives on a private road/car park, I'm still going to need insurance for test drives ... ?

Would day insurance rack up quite quickly, or do I just bite the bullet?

I managed to get 30 day cover with my existing insurer on the previous car while it was being sold. This was the maximum they would allow at the time.
