Whilst working on the car today, I opened the passenger door from the outside button but now the door will not latch closed, it just bounces off the rubbers.

I have tried locking and unlocking the doors, fiddling with the inside and outside openers but they have made no difference.

Looking at the catch itself in the door shut, it is in the same position as the one on the drivers side and doesn't feel stuck. It just won't 'click' and hold the door.

Looking at the locking mechanism behind the carpet flap I can't see anything obvious.

Anyone have any ideas?

If that is correct then try taking the speaker off and disconnect the door opening switch. it is a 2 way white lucas connector. Then close the door. If it shuts the above is correct, it's the switch.

Sorry mine is an early car with the silver button on the rear quarter, so all mechanical apart from the central locking :/

Check the central 'golf ball 's moving freely. I have moved mine to another location (away from little hands), where it occasionally does not, and this is the problem you get. The ball does not return to its neutral position and the cable keeps the door lock open.

You could also check the lock mechanism is staying open after you open the door, and its not trying to close against a shut bar.

Apart from that it's lube, lube, lube, as the Bishop…

Ditto, I had exactly the same, I manually straighten the ball after opening.

Cheers guys, I got it sorted today. Turned out to be the cable from the golf ball being slightly too tight, so when I turned it to the drivers side slightly I could close the passenger door. Lengthened it a few mm on the adjuster and all is well smile
