There's quite a lot if threads and comments regarding the cringeworthy noise from the brakes when you drive like miss Daisy.
Assuming that we could do with a solution a but more universal and permanent than "drive the snot out of it sir", anyone got a solution?

I've had this from both my roadsters
It is always the rears
First roadster I put a load of copper antisqueal on between the shim and the pad, worked for a while frown
Stratstone used the blue polymer based antisqueal compound which cured it but talking to Mike at BR the other week they won't use that stuff as it attacks seals.
JCT have tried a couple of times to cure it on the second roadster with no luck
BR have suggested chamfering the edge of the pad and loosening of the handbrake one click
Mine needs new rear pads so we will do that and I'll let you know!

quote common on many performance cars with particular pad/disc combinations

there should be anti squeal backing pads fitted and/or coppa slip on the rear of pad

chamfering edges of pads sometimes helps, particularly if its the rear handbrake pad dragging a bit

then follow the bedding in procedure from time to time:

otherwise you try a different brand/compound of pad.....

I had this a couple of months ago , new rear pads sorted the squeal out. The old ones were not completely worn, but well on the way.

You can also try deglazing the pads and discs. I do this with some coarse grade emery paper on the face of the pads and discs on steel ones working from hub to edgr in a tangent to the rotational direction. Never tried it on CCM discs though. Definately use a thin smear of copper grease or pad anti squeal paste, not just on the backing, but on the pad guides also.

All you are doing by braking like a nutter to stop it is deglazing the surfaces of the discs and pads anyway.

Saw a Veryon video a few weeks ago and it squealed like a good 'un when the driver slowed at a junction. Happens even in £1.8M cars smile

The same thread comes up time and time again - change the pads for a different brand is the only 100% full proof willneverhappenagain answer.

Carbon ceramics you can't really sort unfortunately (ref the Bugatti post) but steelies are fine. Changed to EBC's on both my Astons and (after bed-in process) squael has completely gone.

Im on the my 4th set of OE pagids on OE discs and dont have squeal after the bedding in process is done

it really must be down to how the pads are fitted and the car subsequently driven...its not like its every car either otherwise these threads would be on here every week instead of just from time to time wink

I put a full set of redstuff pads in. Had OEM ones in and they were pretty bad noise wise.
Took about 600-700 miles to bed them in and now squeal free.
Stopping power is same too and about half the cost of OEM ones.

So EBC/Red stuff just don't squeal?
More or less dust?
