Idiot cyclists....
Discussion
now I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of the 2 wheeled brigade but, by and large, I believe in 'live and let live' - especially as they are way more vulnerable/squishy should anything go wrong. But then every once in a while you really wonder at the mentality of people (and to be fair drivers are just as culpable in the idiocy stakes - quite probably moreso).
Tuesday evening 17.15ish driving from Shenfield to Billericay (A129) and I can't help noticing that the traffic is quite a bit heavier than I would expect... after 2 miles we come to the cause of this traffic 2 cyclists traveling abreast going at the speed of a 'sunday ride'. Seriously??? Why can't people be more considerate

Last night on the way home I was waiting at a set of traffic lights (two lanes). A female cyclist came and sat off the nearside front wing then one off the off side.
As the lights changed I paused to let them get their wobbles done and set off. The one on my right moved to her left without looking but was quicker than the one on my left.
100m up the road is a pedestrian crossing, then my left turn. I'd passed one cyclist (by a considerable distance) and the other was well on her way as the crossing lights changed. I pulled up. I was already indicating.
The remaining cyclist pedalled up the left side of the car and sat in the same place just off the wing.
I had no choice but to let her crawl away while I held crawled even more slowly so I could turn left.
As I turned I shouted - politely - that she should look at the indicators.
If I'd been driving a lorry I am convinced I would not have seen her and she would have been squashed.
I am a cyclist. Car drivers can be idiots. But it absolutely amazes and dumbfounds me how ridiculously stupid cyclists can be when it comes to their own safety and their complete lack of awareness of what's going on around them when they're the most vulnerable baffles me.
PH disclaimer: This does not apply to all cyclists, just the stupid ones. Car drivers (and all road users) can be idiots, dangerous etc, etc, etc.

Last night on my cycle home I was riding along approaching a side road that was joining the road I was travelling along. A car approaching the giveway line seemed to be going a little fast and finally stopped halfway across my lane causing me to swerve out to avoid him. It was dark but I was lit up like a christmas tree and wearing a reflective jacket. He must have realised what he'd done because he jumped the next set of lights to avoid me catching him up. I assume that's why he jumped the lights, he could have just be a complete t
t.
Idiots drivers...

t.Idiots drivers...

Last night I was commuting home on my bike and a pedestrian was just walking along, obviously didn't hear me and walked straight out into the road and into my path. Managed to swerve, but could have been nasty! Shouted a bit at her cos I could have got squashed by a car/truck trying to overtake me! It's happened a few times...
D!ckheads are everywhere on the roads. There are far fewer cyclists than drivers, so statistically far more d!ckheads in cars/vans/trucks/buses/etc...
If more people on this forum cycled I am sure we would see more driver-bashing threads.
In the interests of research, anyone fancy going out on a bike and experiencing the many and varied ways other road users will try to kill or injure you, assuming you can find the minority of roads - usually minor and indirect - which are actually still cyclable at a tolerable level of risk?
No, I didn't think so...

That's a 2 lane carriageway so why couldn't you pass them?
Is the answer that you would have needed to intrude into the opposing carriageway but that had oncoming cars in it?
By extension can we conclude that had the cyclists been riding single file you would have passed them while remaining entirely in your own carriageway?
That does not leave the cyclists enough room and is not a safe pass.

Many people use the roads in a totally inconsiderate and selfish fashion.
Many people don't connect their actions with the possible consequences, to themselves or others.
Some of these people cycle, some use motorbikes, some ride horses, some drive cars. The mode of transport is a symptom not the cause.

I was cycling the other day and there was this hold up on the road. After 2 mins of filtering I get to the front and find the cause of this trafic, a herd of cows moving fields traveling at least three abreast going at the speed of 'cows'. Seriously??? Why can't people be more considerate

OP, get a life.
Sorry, you lose any credibility when you use the word "brigade" in connection with cycling, a Brigade is a military concept, any other use is generally only regarding cyclists by Daily Mail readers, often used with "Lycra Clad". Use of this type is lazy shorthand that makes the writer sound like they cant think for themselves.
Some blokes, on bikes, got in the way for a little while, it was annoying, I get that bit, I am sure it has blighted your young life irreversibly, sorry but that is the road, either use it and get on with it or dont and stop expecting every journey to be perfect, it will never happen, you cant educate 60 million potential road users completely, there will be a
holes, inconsiderate ones in every mode of transport, nobody is going to ban cycling so may as well get used to the occasional small delay, realistically you will spend much more time sat behind other car drivers in queues anyway.

I agree - so how many threads have you started about inconsiderate drivers?
hing about poor road manners and people's lack of consideration - back to youOoooh Goody another driver vs cyclist thread. As a Cyclist commuter i can safely and easily say the vast majority of morons and arrogant/ignorant pricks on the road are the car users. No doubt about it as i also rant about car users when i'm in my car. But as for the sheer stupidity, laziness and dopiness of most drivers you have to be a bit forceful (within reason) on the bike to make sure these morons take notice of you.
I've had a few occasions now of articulated lorries actually putting most other motorists to shame when it comes to overtaking me. They slow down in advance indicate and pull out and leave plenty of room to get around you before pulling in again whereas the majority of car users (bus drivers especially) see it as their mission to knock you off or leave as little room as possible for you. The select few who are considerate to me on the bike i will thank by giving them the hands up gesture as i pass.
