as Santa got me some MSE vouchers it seems rude not to redeem them as soon as posible.
MSE have just released their calender for 2014 and Keevil is available on a saturday for £99, cheap enough. Looking at the layout it looks quite a fast circuit with a couple of long straights. Now, having a Mk1 Eunos, will i find this a bit diappointing, obviously down on top end speed (115mph eventually). Anyone with MX's done Keevil? is it any good?

Geekman & Syncromesh, i know you've both been here and you know my car, what do you think?

Seems MSE havent got anything booked for Abingdon yet, shame as i do like it there, as does the Eunos. They have secured a couple of days at Thruxton though, albeit 90Db limit!! sure that takes 99% of us out!!!

all thoughts welcomed,

Darren

It's very hard on tyres, I've never done a trackday there but we've used it rallying a few times and it chews the tyres up really badly.

Not much to hit either which is a bonus!

Cheers Cyder,

im more concerned about boredom tbh, it looks toooooo long and straight for the Eunos, tyres are not really an issue, there nearing their life expectency, had them on nearly 6 months nowlaugh

I've already booked that day, never been there before either. In the Westy though not the TF unless it looks like heavy rain/snow. It will be the first run out for that car so I like the idea that there's nothing to hit.

Looking at the video on the MSE site it seems they put cones out on the main straight to form mini chichanes, should mean that top speed isn't an issue and ought to relieve the boredom. Wonder how many points you get for clipping them? wink

Haylingjag ^^, we were there late last year and had a belting day.
Normally it's a long lap so make sure you've enough fuel with you or top up at lunchtime.
Nearest petrol (incl. Super) is at Yarnbrook about 3 miles Southwest on A350.
It's quite heavy on brakes(!) so plenty of meat on the pads important.

Tuition was excellent (£25) and I had one of those light-bulb moments when the instructor had me brake just before the first sweeping, righthand high speed corner. It planted the front end unbelievably and felt Like it was on rails (more-so than usual).
There's footage (not mine) on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r2MoxDBOOg. Just watched this in full - didn't know Keith Richards moonlighted as an MSE instructor!!
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe.
PS Thruxton in April (if we're not in la Bella)? In fact last two sound checks on my Eunos with Miltek silencer was 85db - really must check it with my own noise meter.

Went years ago. It was great fun but the abrasive surface really destroys the tyres. I was in my 200bhp, 700kg Polo G40 track car so was flying down the straights and really having a good time. There was some caterhams there, the 120bhp ones I think, they seemed to be really enjoying themselves, especially in the wet.

Cheers men, I might give it a go, nowt to lose really,

mobsy, cones are a sitting target, if you don't hit em you ain't making the apexlaugh

Pete, how you doing?
You got to remember yours is abit quicker than mine, ballast included;) no offence Mrs P, done Goodwood and Brands in quick succession just before Christmas, hilarious in the damp and wet conditions. Should imagine Kevill could be fun in similar conditions lick Thruxton not good for me, consistently reading 94, unless i take the XKRidea

G40, was yours the Polo that mashed its gearbox at Cadwell back in September? 200 horses in that sounds like a giggle!

Unless anyone comes on here to convince me otherwise I think I'll book up a Saturday sesh,

Cheers for the response guys,

D

I heard my name shout

I'd say it's a good track. I think I preferred the layout to Abingdon very slightly, but in terms of run off area and surface they're very similar. Do it thumbup
