What might be the most likely reason for both brake lights failing to work?
I have had to store my car at my parents for the last few weeks, as i have until recently been living in a car unfriendly part of S London. I'm looking forward to picking up my much missed Chim, and would rather try to fix this problem than take it straight to the garage without having a play.
I would normally look this up in the bible, but unfortunately that is in storage with most of my other bits and bobs.
Cheers!

Brake light switch faulty. Grovel in the footwell and check. Fuse gone. Someone removing both brake light bulbs...

I had this problem when I picked up my Cerbera from the dealer after it had had the PDI!

As Steve said - you'll need to grovel in the footwell - you'll see a switch, it was a white plasticy thing on my car. Squirted some WD40 on it - hey presto it was fixed and never went wrong again (the brakelights that is!)

Freaky!

Both my brake lights packed up yesterday, blubs and fuses were both ok. "fixed" it by manually pressing the switch rapidly a few dozen times.

Might as well leave it until service time in 1000 miles.

I had a strange one with mine. Brake lights were OK with the lights on, but with the lights off they werent. In fact they would come on OK, but the headlights would also come on! Strange but only can conclude that there was some sort of feedback / loose connection somewhere linked with the headlight switch.

Tonnes of WD40 on various locations and a check of all fuses didnt seem to fix the problem. However, a nice long drive (200 miles) and getting nice and warm probably dried out any water, plus the WD40 working its way in solved the problem. Funny thing was that I took it to David Gerald to get it looked at, and by the time I got there it fixed itself... thats TVR for you.

Check the fuses, the switch on the brake pedal in the footwell, and then go round the junction boxes for the wiring - liberal WD40 and check of connections should fix things. Also, check the bulbs, they can work loose (Ford design) and occassionally touch the wrong track - you only have to see the number of Fords on the road with dodgy lights to see that the design isnt brilliant.

Cheers,

Paul
