Tuna in a can is going to become my go-to lunch for the foreseable future as I start my high-protein "get a beach bod" diet.

Anyone got any quick-and-easy tuna combinations that I can whip up for lunch at work? Preferably sans carbohydrates....

Good start - but why just tuna? You will be getting very tired of dinners unless you can eat chicken, pork, fish (unbattered/breaded)etc.
With no carbs you are very limited to menu options and will have a greater chance of success if you can include other meats?
I have got a link to some good recipes somewhere (though american) - give us a sec and Ill find it

Ah - here we go: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html
Some ideas are odd and some just don't appeal. Others have carbs - but then its low carb - not no carb. Even these ideas can provide some inspiration however.
I have tried many - or variants due to ingredients(I didn't have molasses in my cupboard) and they seem ok.
A good thing is to quickly get a hand of substitution. If rice is off the menu there is always 'fake rice' which sticks many Indian and Chinese dishes back on the menu...
There are others besides....

Hi mate, thanks for the reply.

It won't be solely tuna for lunch, it's just they are easy to buy in bulk and don't expire quickly. I will be mixing it up with chicken based lunches too.

My main issue is a great love for pasta (the obvious mixer for tuna or chicken) but that love does not go hand in hand with creating an adonis.

Tuna, mayo, and chopped spring onions is one of the few combinations that makes tuna palatable. Have a pile of it with some lettuce leaves.

I do the same with tinned salmon, but just add balsamic vinegar and pepper and eat it straight from the tin.

Like an animal.

Personally I'd go for tinned salmon over tuna for its omega 3 and calcium content.

I can eat this out of the tin too. Splash of Tabasco. Yums.

Salad nicoise? Tuna, anchovies, hard boiled egg and salad or French beans.

Thanks guys good advice. Does canned salmon have as high as protein count?

Salad nicosie sounds a plan.

Tuna , mayo and salsa or chopped red onion is nice

On top of tuna, tinned mackerel in tomato is good, as are Parmentier sardines. Plus the added bonuses of the smaller oily fish are they are high in calcium and tend to be lower in heavy metals as they're lower down the food chain.

Rather than canned salmon, try raw salmon. Chop it up, drizzle with a little bit of soy sauce and a dab of wasabi paste and some sliced pickled ginger on the side. Home made sashimi.

If you're going to eat it raw, forage at the back of the shelf for the stuff with the longest remaining shelf life.

Lidl do ready made tins of this. Quite cheap I think.

Remove the salad, instead roughly chop up an avocado, and add chopped tomatoes, cucumber, and balsamic.

Perfect, and still healthy!

John West used to do cans of tuna with a three bean mix and vinaigrette. I used to monster that with avocado, tomatoes and cucumbers.

If anyone finds any . . . Let me know . . . Please! smile
