Thought i'd get something as a mid to late winter baby barge

Stumbled across this and not surprisingly it is a minter

2003 X-Type 2.0 V6

got a lot of kit incl - AC, Climate, Cruise etc etc

Full Serviced, last bought in 2012 from a Jag Dealer

94k miles and MOT'd only last week

tight as a drum and excellent ride and comfort

all for the grand old sum of £950

if i keep it for 6 months to a year i reckon it will cost me next to nothing, and i'd probably get my money back if not more

similar spec sold within a week for £2495 at a lot down the road

plan is really to keep as is although might try and source a facelift grille from the breakers,

It transforms the front quite a bit and is a bolt on job

Very nice, I think these are really under rated.

Is it really a 2.0 V6? That seems like quite a small capacity for a V6.

Unless I'm missing something that is a completely uncalled for comment and completely untrue!
I like the x type and the 2.0 v6 is a cool engine. Sounds like you got yourself a really good deal. I reckon if nothing goes wrong you should make money on it which is always a bonus smile I had an xj in the summer and I do like jags. They have something about them.

Yeah.

I mean you need something truly fascinating that no one else has. German metal perhaps?

Now that would be truly interesting, and not boring at all.

OP - for £950 that looks like a great buy. I've always quite liked the X type, comfortable, plenty of kit, and drive well. At that money, an AWD 2.5 or 3.0 would have been a lottery, I suspect the unloved 2.0 is secretly a wise budget decision.

Enjoy it! smile

2.1 I believe. They go quite well, even with the autobox.

Yes, they're a 2.1 litre. It is a little gem of an engine - so eager, smooth and free revving.

The V6 X-type is an incredibly underrated thing; I don't know why people dismiss them. They handle well, are comfortable and much smoother riding than most modern cars. They're quiet and refined too. Personally, I prefer them to the BMW E46 - though the E90 does make them feel a little old fashioned. They have a certain charm though; I like the V6 X-Type. Yours looks to be a marvellous buy for the money. I am amazed how little you paid for it.

I think the whole "baby jag" is underrated , you'll get all the "Its a Mondeo with a dress on" comments but they are great cars and a nice places to be

Good luck with it

^^ hehe ^^ You've clearly never driven a 2.1 attached to an auto. Not enough pull to get your foreskin back. Hopeless.

If it is a manual it still won't set the world on fire performance wise, but the very short stroke V6 loves revs and sounds great being wrung out.

It could just be that JD is giving him a taste of his own medicine. If you look at all the comments tbc makes on other peoples cars, you will be hard pushed to find anything nice. So as i say "what goes around comes around"

With the CR@P the op posts on other readers threads, I really don't know how he has to audacity to start his own readers car thread, especially about a re-badged and skinned up Mondeo shed confused

Can I ask why you chose the 2.1 instead of the 2.5 or 3.0 that come with AWD?? They're all around the same money at this price point and there's not much in it MPG wise I understand?
