Ok, I have a problem I need help with, I am hoping some of your experts will be able to help.

The farm L200 was crashed on a country unclassified. Bobbies attended, as the road blocked. No one hurt, pheew! However MOT 2 months out! Fined £100. ok fair enough, my fault.

L200 taken to local garage. Called broker, remembering to tell them it had a cherished plate.

Yesterday the Ins. broker called to say it had been written off. Offered £5000 for 10yr old 100k. Ok so far.

Called the garage to say truck would be lifted, only to be told it had been lifted a week ago!!

As L200 has a private reg., quite a good one. So I downloaded a DVLA V317 only to discover I needed the tax disc serial number, expiry date and MOT!!

Back on the phone to broker to get them to find truck and tax disc. They tracked it down to Peterbourgh! But the tax disc was missing. There was 4 months left on it. Today I downloaded and filled in a V20 and got to the post office to get a duplicate. Done.

However, I now have to face the real possibility of not being paid the Insurance and losing my number for the lack of an MOT.

I haven't agreed a write off figure, and haven't sent any documents away yet.

Apart from using text reminders for the MOTs, does anyone have any advice?
.

Thank you.

If you tell the DVLA it's a write off they need a letter from the Insurance company saying they have no interest in the cherished plate.

Not true unless the policy explicitly states that it must have an MOT. No other exclusion will suffice.

You're just scaremongering.

SORN it

Apply to DVLA to put reg plate on retention

Don't need MOT or tax or Insurance to remove the plate to retention

Podie, B'stard Child and LoonR1, Thank you.

I'll keep quiet about accident and send off V317 asap and see what happens. If they want to see it I'll just tell the truth, the Insurance Co. moved it without my knowledge! They will be able to view it in Peterborough!
