Why do the Trafpol not do anything about it.

I was driving back from Herts to London this morning and as i appraoched hammersmith roundabout, the traffic was not surprisingly chocca block. 200 meters later and about 45 mintues later, I see the reason why. A Fosters lorry has stopped on the side of the road offloading beer to the pub - I then look across and on the otherside, there is the same thing going on and then another beer lorry doing the same a bit further up. Traffic was a nightmare. Forget tickets - the companies will pick those up - why don't the Trafpol actually make them move - Tow them, give the driver points - whatever, but it seems crazy that they are allowed to do this.

I would have thought the companies themselves would have had more sense than to send deliveries at rush hour anyway - but there we go.

Im surprised that this happened because that area...and indeed all of Central London is covered by cameras operated from NSY. If anything stops then they are moved on almost straight away and if they are causing a severe obs then a Traffic unit is despatched.

For a short while I had a fill in job doing multi-drop deliveries from a 7.5 tonner around London and the home counties and it was a real education for me.

Having to find somewhere to stop for even a few minutes was a major pain in the @rse. How else do the goods which most of us eventually buy get delivered otherwise?

Since then I view these minor inconveniences in a whole new light and , mainly, with sympathy.

Your point is valid and as a consumer, I totally appreciate the need to do deliveries.

However...

7 o'clock in the morning (peak rush hour) on a round about that meets the end of the M4 and A40 servicing all commuter traffic to the SW of London and there are 3 trucks... Surely there is a better time and a route plan can be put in place to create as little obstruction as possible. It was delivering beer - pub isn't even open till 11 - why not deliver at 9 when the rush hour is over.

Taffic is traffic and sh*t happens, I was just incredibly surprised that trafpol hadn't said - move on chaps, the traffic you are causing is unacceptable - Hammersmith cop shop is 100 meters down the road too.
