LG Blu-Ray Home Theatre System - Trouble

I have a LG BH4030S which is causing me some grief.

As I have had a new TV I tried to play a Blu-Ray disc to see the difference 1080i makes, the title sequences and menu come up perfectly but during the film it suffers with skipping and jerking and freezing.

I have tried 4 different discs and they are all the same, the strange bit is that standard DVD's seem to work fine as do audio cd's.

I have tried both 24 & 50hz settings.

Any thoughts?
