I have just spoken to a hood specialist who has done some work for me on a TVR before for a quote on replacing the whole hood. This of course is the canvas part only of the whole thing including a new rear window and seals. His work is excellent and he used to work for TVR, I think on a sub contract for hoods. He is asking around 650 inclusive. Is this reasonable? What are the options? Are ready made hoods available for self fitting? Can we multi buy or negotiate a deal together with anyone else that needs a hood fitted?

The hood on my car isn't actually that bad and it doesn't leak. The rear window is a little misty but still visible. However its now showing it's age and I think the condition the car is in, it deserves a brand new hood. I am not in a hurry to replace, so open to suggestions. I know this subject has been discussed many times before but I need to go over them again as I don't want to rush into it as it's a lot of money.

Sensible suggestions welcome!

Ask for Brian. They did mine and did a good job.

Regarding the misting of the plastic window, use toothpaste, it works a treat biggrin

You could buy your hood from Autohoods and fit it yourself. Or I have a number of a trimmer who did work for the TVR Centre in Barnet. He quoted 450 all in about 2 years ago.

D&C car trim are very helpful, great guys from TVR.
I'm trying to fit my own at the moment, and it's slow going, can't quite get it right but I'm a stubborn MF!!
I rang D&C and they offered to do it of coarse, but also have me tips and advise to do it myself.

Hey GV I haven't forgot your help over the phone as well, it's getting there,
I hung it over a radiator in the house to soften the window.
Defiantly fits better!

Thanks to everyone for their help. I will try a few of the ones mentioned and may be back to some of you for contacts. I will keep you all informed of the progress, though it may be a slow one until I decide which to go for. I want a professional job as I never keep these cars for too long, and I don't want it to appear to the potential buyer that it was fitted by a cowboy. The car is slate grey in colour so I guess another black hood would look good, but red is also in the back of my mind. Thanks to you all once again.

Hi tony

If you got a real good price, i would join you (remember that there is a small difference on the 400 if pricing in bulk)

What is the small difference? I thought 350 and 400 Wedge roofs were exactly the same.

The 400's have two projecting bits at the front that fit to the windscreen frame.

I was quoted 500 sobbers for a new roof including the targa panel from Brian at car trimming company...I have seen three Wedge roofs done by him and they replicate the original to every detail, He also advises you on settling the material down and overall after care...What more could you want??...Ziga

My wedge is in to get its original roof done. This on the continent and your prices are at least 50% down... This is in Belgium and has a good reputation, done several TVRs. Dropping the wedge of first comment: I could hear you coming. Still like thatbiggrin
The drive down there was in the wet/rain and cold, but still enjoyed it. Looking forward to pick it up, but then probably the rest of the exterior and interior needs to be done as it looks old as it is old smash
