OPC Servicing for older cars

Called my local OPC today (Hatfield) to enquire about servicing costs for older cars. I have a 1996 993 Carrera.
On their website, they show very competitive prices for 996 servicing, so I had expected the same sort of concessions.
I was horrified to hear their costs for a 993 - £400 for a minor and £750 for a major. That doesn't include spark plugs, brake fluid change or anything like that.
Does anyone know if that sounds correct ? I'm convinced I've heard of very attractive concessions for older cars on servicing, to keep them in the network.
The irony is that the car really doesn't need for anything. Only 2k miles since the last service and I had the ignition leads, rotor arms, dizzy caps and brake fluid changed in the last couple of months.
I really want the stamp in the book, but based on the feedback received today, the stamp definitely won't be coming from my local OPC.

I have no doubt that there will be some old hands who know them inside out, but I would wager this is rare.

Bournemouth didn't quote me an overall price on my 968 last year but it was £55+VAT per hour and worked out very reasonable overall. A lot of their techs have been around for a long time and seduced me with the offer of cheap servicing when I went in for parts and lifted the bonnet to look at something.

Also use Bournemouth, so impressed with their service and the major service on my 996T came in a great deal cheaper than the local specialistUsed to take my 993 Turbo to Solihull OPC every year until I sold it recently. They were excellent. It didn't do many miles so services were only 2 or 3 hundred quid or so IIRC... They were always great to deal with.
And I always got a new Porsche for the day. Usually a Boxster but a Panamera once too. It'd cost that much to hire one for the day...:-)

I take my old Pork to Leicester,they have stripped my 964 engine and rebuilt it before and my 944turbo is in there as we speak,they have more than one tech with tons of experience,one has a mintola 964 C2 as a daily ,and the service manager is a proud owner of a 944 S2.They love the older stuff as well as the latest stuff off the line.They will give special rates on any classic Porsche service.The parts manager is very helpful and knowledgeable about the older stuff right back to 70s 911s and front engined water cooled stuff.Worth a call they are a nice bunch to deal with and real enthusiasts.On Friday when I visited there was a 70s project car 911 getting its gearbox, 3.2 Speedster,930,Porsche tractor (not kidding),my 944 turbo in the workshop next to all the latest models.

That is correct; we (Swindon) have a beautiful Riviera Blue C2 we are restoring for a customer at the moment and for the time being have tech's still around from when the 993 was 'new'Sean at Bristol gravely ill at the moment - get well soon
Mohitos: make sure you get a quote for your car from a few Opc's first. The labour rate per hour should be very good as it is half the usual rate. £55ph - 75ph instead of 110ph-145ph.
If you can then get 20% off the parts prices then it's hard to see why you would take it anywhere else assuming the Opc is competent.
Some Opc's are filled to the gills with air-cooled pork in the service workshop and car park.
Had mixed experiences with my 964 at local opc (newcastle). Generally they are v helpful, their parts guy is superb. He said they have classic parts targets, so can get some pretty decent discounts.
Then tried to get a 4 wheel alignment done which was a complete pain, quoting something daft as seemed like they didn't want the work. Also tried to get a quote for a service recently and didn't get a reply so used a new local specialist instead..
Did get an invite recently to drive a new 991c4s from them which was nice though!

Another vote for Bournemouth. Nick the tech who looks after my Carrera 3.2 treats the car like it's his own. He worked at the dealership when the model was launched so his experience is second to none - and it shows.
