RWD and roundabouts.
Discussion
I know there was a thread recently about losing traction but how many of you RWD guys actually slide the car about???? I'm no driving god but I love the wet weather as it lets me have a lot of fun and safer speeds. Pretty much every roundabout I hit or tight corner the throttle gets stabbed and sliding fun is had. However I never see it being done, until today when a young lad in a bright yellow Z3 executed a perfect little flick round the roundabout I was waiting to get on. It did look very cool. I could count on one hand how many times I've seen it done.
Is it a case of many folk talking the talk but not walking the walk.
I will confess to late night visits to industrial estates and practicing at stupid o clock in the morning when the roads are empty.

Grew up driving capris, cortinas and real escorts.
Same here. I discovered that Escorts will only usually spin in their own length but Capris tend to adopt a tangent.I can take it as read that you understand how to steer with your right foot without even thinking about it !

Yup. Last capri i had was stiffened and lowered, on brookies with a boa mated to a t5. fI can take it as read that you understand how to steer with your right foot without even thinking about it !
king clownshoes in the wet.I enjoy sliding a car a little & if there is room I like to get properly sideways exiting a junction but I haven't mastered going all the way around a roundabout as much I would love too!
I always drove my E92 M3 with the traction off as I don't see the point of it if you have a LSD aswell & I managed 4 years in my old 200sx & six years in my Cerbera without ending up in a field so its nice to have a little bit of fun provided its safe but I am a million miles away from being a driving god for sure.
I agree though you never seem to see it on the road but that's probably a good thing!!
Due to my age I am going steady now so if I do see anyone having fun I will look & think I wish it was me!!

Got the tail out when powering out of bends in the mx-5 a few times but a case of me getting used to RWD rather than having fun. Have seen a few people perform little drifts wether on purpose or by accident I'm unsure, the best of which was an empty transit tipper on a wet round about at slow speed. All done as if it was a normal part of driving.

It's happened to me unintentionally a few times, I always seem to over correct. What am I doing wrong?
Practice. Late at night when it's wet is ideal.I've only been driving RWD for about a year and the first few times I hugely overcorrected. I'm getting quite good now though. Need to go on one of these drift tuition courses. It's insanely fun once you start to get a bit more confident.
