Currently thinking of selling my old 996 and city car and buying one multi purpose family car, the more discrete the better. It needs to have :

A boot that takes a pushchair and associated junk.
4 doors
Room in the back for 2 kids seats.
Room in the front to sit with bambinos behind
A V8 or V 10 ...... Ok that's not a necessity ...... lick

I'm not going to be doing big miles so fuel isn't a huge issue. I'm used to TVR and Porsche so service costs aren't a major worry if similar. I have about 15k-17k to spend.

Ideas so far.

M5 - never had a BM funnily enough, is it discrete enough?
BMW 335 diesel.
Maserati Quattroporte - scared of the potential bills !
Audi RS 4 - not sure it's discrete
Audi RS 6- ?
Audi A8- quite like the idea of a big Diesel.
Audi S8 - V10 ........ bounce

Any thoughts, advice, experiences much appreciated folks.

I would choose a E61 M5 touring if fuel economy really does not matter at all.

The very epitome of 'under the radar', right?!
Older rs6s are a lot more subtle than newer gen. About 10k plus the rest in a slush fund?!
Or an e61 550i?

His username is rather apt I'd say, so he can be forgiven.

Phaeton.....ultimate in discretion, most people will think it's a Passat.

Ridiculous engine options, one for everyone...and quite rare.

Good call. I've always fancied a W12.
