Morning wink I need help! I want a new track car that I will sometimes use on the road, I tried this with an E36 M3 a few years ago and hated it on track. But I'm back with the dilemma ..... I workd for Vauxhall when the vxt was new and loved them, but it might break every bone in my 6'2 body driving to the ring.....

I have made a pledge to get to the ring in'14 wink

Help;)

If you hated the 36, the 46 will be similar.

Not sure why you hated it? Both are too heavy & unfocused in stock form to track properly, but don't need much other than suspension, brakes & track geo as a 1st step, but then same applies to the vx really as bog stock its a road car.

Just got rid of my VX220 turbo for the radical, I loved the VX but wanted a more race car like experience, a well set up well driven stage 2 VX220 turbo will eat M3's for dinner, straight line speed in the VX may not be as quick as the M3 but its in the corners and breaking where the VX has the edge, I'm 6ft and although its a struggle to get in and out driving was fine but saying that mine was a track day only bh trailered to and from track so can't comment on the comfort over a long journey.

Also the upside of the VX is that they do hold there money even a CAT D will fetch over £8K in standard form, have a look on the VX220 forum you will find everything you will every need to know about the VX on what to do and not to do.

M3 is brilliant for being so good as a 'normal' car and being ok on track. If I could only have 1 car I'd have the M3, if I already had a daily I'd go for the VX smile

I'd say the same thing for the vx. Didn't rate my mate's M3 CS on track.. rather depends on where you sit on the comfort-performance-practicality continuum. I also thought the BM flattered to deceive, even when the electronics were allegedly off/race mode/whatever it was.

That said, I'm not sure I'd pick a turbo car for track, personally I prefer the sharpness of normally aspirated.

I sold my e36 m3 track car and bought a vx220 na. It was the best decision I made. It's quicker over a lap, much more involving, easier on consumables, won't rust and has a great little community on Vx220. org

I'm just about to add a supercharger which will take power to a fairly serious 250bhp in a car that weighs 875kg.

However, for day to day driving the BMW was much more comfortable.
