Buying a used car with decals - boy racer car?
Discussion
Hey guys,
Going to look at a used Punto today, 58 plate with 43,000 miles. The pictures show it's got decals running down the side saying the word 'Dub'.
I'm not very technical when it comes to cars, so other than anything obvious, I don't know what to look/listen for. This seems to be like it could have been a 'boy racer' car and had the arse thrashed off it.
Would you be wary about buying it in such cases?

In my youth, I bought a used XR3i which had added stripes and stickers all over it.
Out came the kettle when I got it home and I took the lot off. However, it soon emerged that the car had been ragged to death in its previous ownership.

I know someone that made that mistake with a 911 - they had to pay extra for it.Out came the kettle when I got it home and I took the lot off. However, it soon emerged that the car had been ragged to death in its previous ownership.

Massive stickers saying 'GT3 RS' down the side'..................

The Dub was a special edition by Fiat and from memory it came with an upgraded stereo and that was it. Going to look at a used Punto today, 58 plate with 43,000 miles. The pictures show it's got decals running down the side saying the word 'Dub'.

I remember that one customer I supplied one to was in her mid 70s.
The decals were standard like that.

This made me laugh out load, mrs didn't quite get the joke.... Massive stickers saying 'GT3 RS' down the side'..................

To the point, yes if it had Halfords decals, Max power magazine, or any non OEM decals splattered across the car, I would 100% avoid myself.
I think forum decals can be an exception though, you can find the cars history, maintenance and more about the owner.
Has anyone here ever bought a car from someone called (or from) Barry?
