I had a TVR Chimaera last year, since then ive gone through 3 BMWs 325, Alpina B3 and now a 328i Sport.
I would love an 80s 911 before i get my company car next year, do you think it would be a good idea, will it cost much more than the BMWs to run, or will it be the same as the TVR if any one has experience of this i would love to hear your thoughts
cheers

Having had a Chim and numerous BMW's (including a 328 sport coupe and 328 cab "sport edition") and now being on my third 911 (including a G50), i'm just going to pile straight in...
If you buy a solid, well kept (not cheap) 3.2 Carrera of around 87/88/89 vintage (G50 box) you're going to have a car that costs little more to run than a 328 sport and much less to run than a Chim, and trounces both in almost every way.
Ok, even the 328 is quicker in a straight line, and probably corners (unless it's dry and you're brave), and the TVR (if you had sports exhausts) sounds wonderful, but there's something quite unique about a 911.
Best bet? Drive a nice, clean, looked after 87/88/89 car. You'll either love it or hate it...
Be warned though, if you love it, you'll never want to be without a 911 ever again.
