I'm looking for some small speakers to go in my kitchen. They will be hooked into my hi-fi amp which put out about 75w channel.

They are to replace some speakers I bought in the '80s which were built into stone kitchen jars, about 5 1/2" in diameter and 10" tall. They finally gave up so I binned them. The replacements cannot be any bigger as they will sit on top of the units in each corner of the room.

Now I'm struggling to replace them because small speakers all seem to be for PC/computers these days not proper hi-fi.

Any ideas?

K-Array? These are distributed through Sennheisser. You might have to call an AV company to order them though.

Looks like I will be setting up my own AV business soon again as got made redundant on Thursday! Anyone need any work?

Dear RB,

Denon SC-M50 (designed by Mission) 9x5x8 hxwxd. 2nd hand for £50 or so, loads on *bay. I have a pair in my kitchen.
There's the even smaller SC-M51 too,

regards,
Jet

Yes at 4.7" wide they may well do the job, I'll investigate.

I can second this recommendation. The lizards from K-Array need to be seen to be believed, not cheap but perfect for discrete/invisible installations.

^This^

I auditioned these and was convinced they had a sub or much bigger speakers hidden behind the curtain. They didn't. Jaw droppingly good.

I have had the above since December, love them, very very good sound quality right up to full volume.

What amp is it your are using? And what's the budget?
I'm sorry to suggest this, but I think a pair of sonos play 1's will be a good punt.
I'm only guessing as because it's your kitchen your not sitting down and listening. Only having background or entertaining music?

Guys thanks for all the suggestions. The amp is an old school Technics class A amp of around 70w-100w/channel. In the end I took some old Gale speakers that were sitting unused in my Mum's garage and butchered them with a saw, literally, to make the cabinet fit the space. Glued them together again, obviously and they are fine for the kitchen. JOb done and free! Thanks Mum smile
