Anyone live around there, or had any experience of what it'd be like to live?
Are there any other good area within liversedge and heckmondwike?
Basically, the "good" means whether that is safe and quite.

The reason I am asking is that we may consider to live within in the catchment area of the grammar school.

Thanks

Why would you move house just so your kids can get into a school?

Uphill Robberttown is a nice village and it seems most people move there just to get their kids into the school.

It's nice, it has a busy little high street and a good pub with it's own micro brewery. Cracking farm shop just down the road (Haighs).

Does the Grammar School have a catchment area, or is it purely on placing within the 11+? I only ask as the Halifax Grammars don't have a catchment and a friend of ours in Queensbury took the exam for Heckmondwike with no intention of moving house.

I live in liversedge, roberttown is just up the road, its quite a nice area, semi rural, well away from trouble spots but close to great shops and good bus routes to Leeds etc. Ive lived in this area for 25 years and really like it.

North Halifax and Cross health don't have a catchment but Heckmondwike does.

The admissions policy of Heckmondwike gives some preference to children who live in the catchment area - the order (for children of selective ability) is:
a) looked after children
b) in catchment
c) siblings
d) staff member's children
e) children outside these categories in order of score in the exam

So,still need 11+ test, but there could be more chance if we are in the catchment area if the test is passed.

Haighs is fabulous - the shop isn;t much to look at but it;s kept well and the meat is fabulous
