Are they okay? As in 45mins upwards. A guy at work does an hour, but thats all motorway and so I guess pretty easy. Normally I wouldn't bother with over half an hour, but looking to buy a house and it looks like i'll be about 45 mins away. Its all back roads, and not even nice flowing back roads, but tight corners and hump-back bridges, so will be hard work.

I think the only way to keep it entertaining is to make it your mission to decrease journey time as much as possible.

For quite a while I was comuting from Bromley to Tonbridge through the county lanes. This was my tool:

Sports springs, Koni dampers, big brakes, stripped interior, bigger wheels and lower wider tyres.

The aim of the game generally speaking is to get from A to B without compromising on safety and without doing anything illegal. It's quite a challange.

I find an hour fine and don't see it as a long commute, the worst i had was 2h each way. An hour is nice separation between work and home, I am lucky though as I tend to get in early and leave at 4pm so I miss all the traffic

Depends a bit on the Job. I like 1/2 hr or so it helps me switch home/work mood. When I had a job starting at 8am and finishing at 7pm I would have been royally pissed off with more than 20 mins.

Not all 45min commutes are equal IMHO. 45min on free flowing roads feels OK to me, but 45min fighting through London would not be OK.

I used to do a 45min commute for about 4 years. Worked out not too bad for me as I'd leave home around 5:30am. With not much traffic around that time of morning it was pretty smooth. The drive home used to be ok, it actually enjoyed that bit of time on my own between work and being home again and I got used to the time after a while.

I did try a few times in normal rush hour traffic but I used to get pretty annoyed with it.

Ended up moving closer to work a year ago so my commute is down to 5mins.

90,000 - but it's fuel injection so the last character is 'i' for injection. I did a DIY nitrous installation on this car as well.

I do 45/60 minutes depending on where I'm working that day. Mostly motorway and my shifts are all weird times so it's very rare I get caught in traffic. Been doing it almost 4 years now and I still enjoy the me time it gives me.

Saying that the few times I have been caught in traffic or had to drive during rush hour. I couldn't do that everyday.
I can see it getting on my nerves eventually though but as it is, it's not too bad.

I used to do 165 miles each way for about a year 3-4 days a week, it was killing me! I did about a hour a day and that would be my limit, now i do 0 hours commuting. smile

The interior was quite fun looking as well. Looks ready for a good thrashing. Blue button on the dash for activating the nitrous.

Results of DIY nitrous conversion were mixed.

Is this Pistonheads or have I unwittingly logged into the green parties website or some

Not sure 45 min each way is a particularly long commute. The 15 miles from our house to my office in Leeds can take way more than 45 minutes if I tackle it at the wrong time and I suspect many commuting in and out if Uk cities are much the same.

It's spot on 100 miles from our front door to my Newcastle office. On the days I am up there I normally do that one starting at 5.30am and I admit to looking forward to those days since it's one of my few chances to enjoy the car on relatively quiet roads. Interesting that certainly on the early single carriageway parts of that run I often see the same cars again and again.
