Dis connected battery!
Discussion
If you remove the battery and leave it disconnected for a couple of wks,
Is there anything special I have to do when re connecting and firing up.
Is there a watch battery In The alarm system that keeps the memory or does it just re set when batt connected etc.
taking the pee is a must but an actual answer would also help.
Thanks boys.

There must be something terrible that happens when you pull her life support!
Anthony I'm turning into James May and the Tvr is going to look like meccano, hundreds of bits!
I've decided I can't compete with all these engine upgrades but by f
k I can polish it pretty good.
I must buy a bible so I can stop asking obvious questions.
But then it would be less fun as I like a bit of wit.
One of my biggest ambitions is to work out how to post a smilie face!

Well you need to test it every now and then!
My fob used to fob me off in car parks, petrol stations, alarm blaring away? I'm usually wearing old jeans and old bobble hat, most people thought I was nicking it!
8 weeks ,,,,, still feels like your virginity is being taken then, lol.
How are you enjoying it JWzed!

Last time I did this the alarm went off the moment the battery was connected. Scared the living doodads out of me !!
Not sure if that was just my car or if its a Chimaera thing, but might be worth having the alarm fob next to you and set yourself for a loud sudden noise.
Mine does the same thing nowadays, last winter I bundled a jumper around the siren to muffle it, and let its internal battery run down which took ages. There must be a better way.Not sure if that was just my car or if its a Chimaera thing, but might be worth having the alarm fob next to you and set yourself for a loud sudden noise.
In answer to your question Alun, I'm really glad I bought it. After many enjoyable years of motor cycling (mainly sports bikes) including a few near misses, I decided a change was needed and started looking for a project in my retirement.
Looked at several options but kept coming back to favouring a TVR.
Bought a Platinum Silver 1999 4ltr 61500 miler. Basically sound with FSH (outriggers done and waxoiled two years ago) but needing some TLC. Bought the car in Leicestershire and drove it back to Devon with no issues and good temperature and pressures.
First job was to do an engine compression test. Fortunately all cylinders were above the minimum and within 5 psi of each other. I did however discover a small water leak (overnight drips) from the back of the front cover which necessitated stripping out the front of the engine bay, also removed everything in way of the rocker covers which I needed to remove for cleaning.
Whilst the radiator was out I had it tested. Two v/small leaks - new core fitted by Plymouth Radiators (recommended). Currently just finished replacing everything including new water pump, drive belt and tensioner, all PAS pipework, thermostat, new oil pressure sender, new jubilee clips and wiring conduits, also cleaning and tidying under the bonnet which was in a poor state. Got the engine started first attempt and had a successful shakedown drive.
Now about to fit new rear shocks. Also on the todo list is paint (stone chips and scratches) and a new hood. Spending a bit of dosh but enjoying the results. Can't wait for better weather.

I enjoyed that John, its blooming great this Tvr lark, even when you take them off the road for a tinker, its great fun.
Sounds like a lovely car and a beautiful county to enjoy her in. Your going to have great fun I can feel it now, lol.
The split personality of a Tvr is perfect for those hills and lovely country lanes.
The first year I owned mine I went to Wales, Scotland, east and west coast literally all over the uk but somehow forgot to get down to Devon and Cornwall! Maybe I was saving them for a special trip, lol.
To quash the mith somewhat I'd drive from sun up to sun down. Sleep and do it again the next day!
Henry Cole sort of comes to mind. I wouldn't plan the route just point it and go where the road looked good or were the sun was! Adventure.
Come on I expected to blow up any minute, took me a year to actually believe I wasn't going to break down, it was just like riding a bike and I loved every minute if it.
Enjoy your sunny rides and make sure you post some pics of a lovely car in a lovely part of the world.
