Hi All,

My car has light grey carpets & I have changed the mats to black. However, with football practice, matches & generally giving the boys a lift, the light grey carpet on the rear gearbox tunnel gets very dirty.

Any thoughts?

DIY option - you could get a scrap of carpet, cut it to fit and then put the two ends underneath your rear mats so it fits nicely.

My Dad's old E-class (55 plate) had a separate transmission tunnel mat which was a part of the carpet mat set. I don't know if they're available individually though.

Option 1. Have the boys take their boots off before getting into the car.

Option 2. Wash the carpet more frequently.

Option 3. Cover the carpet.

Go in Tesco and buy a couple of Value floor mats. Adjust to fit by cutting and gluing/taping.

I've seen that on a Y plate E Class - the mats were MB rubber ones. Good idea I thought.
