Hi all, I have noticed high oil pressure on my new Chim since I got it a few weeks ago, but today got it over a pit to do some testing (thanks V).

The strangest thing - and possibly pointing to the problem, was that with the ignition on, but engine off, the gauge reads 30psi. Disconnecting the sender it drops to zero.

This implies to me a faulty sender ("off resistance" too low), but could someone please just check this on theirs? Mine is 1998 serp. Putting an Ohmeter on it though I see 324 ohms, which seams about right. A bit high if anything.

I also wondered what might happen if the earth connection was missing off the gauge, anyone any idea if this could be the case?

Sender is knackered.

They were not very accurate in the first place.

Have a read of the link and purchase one off ebay. You will have to run one of the terminals to earth, but it gives a better and more accurate oil pressure reading.

Look here, page 4, my graph. This should make it all self explanatory. If not, PM me.
