Foveon vs Bayer.
Discussion
Still doing research into DSLR's and am struggling making some choices. Anyone have any first hand experience of the Sigma SD10?. Having read some of the technical arguments regarding sensors, quite like the sound of the foveon approach (seperate sensors for RGB channels). Shooting in Raw only might be a problem for action because of the large file size meaning low fps capability but otherwise i'm struggling to see the downsides, especially as the camera comes bundled with some of the best RAW conversion software around.
Anyone?

Practical Photography has a review of the EOS 300D, Nikon D70 and SD10
D70 wins followed by the EOS then the Sigma
Its buy far the most expensive - approx £200 more that the Nikon which is £140 more than the EOS
Its also the heaviest.
Canon gets the best image quality, then nikon then SD10.
the SD10 doesn't do very well against the other 2 really
Get yourself down to WHSmiths and read the review (page 94)

Having the same dilemma, 56 reviews on the cannon here www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Canon_Digital_Rebel_EOS_300D
The 'x3' bit is tempting but I'm always wary of oddballs. According to that review the image is only 2268 x 1512 pixels, well down on the others.
Other things I spot are:
- no built-in flash
- RAW only (lower fps)
- no batteries, no charger, get your own AAs!
- heavy bastard
All of which may or may not be important to you. I once regarded built-in flash as a bit Mickey Mouse but it's extremely handy for a fill-flash.
The Sigma might be great and you might be delighted with it; it just seems a bit of an oddball.
