A quick (I hope) question please..
Does anyone know if a MAF is faulty would it cause a missfire between a certain rev range ie up to 2000rpm but fine then all the way to 6500rpm?
Thanks folks
Craig
Would unplugging it work? If the car runs worse with it unplugged then its doing its job.Does anyone know if a MAF is faulty would it cause a missfire between a certain rev range ie up to 2000rpm but fine then all the way to 6500rpm?
Thanks folks

It could well be a MAF sensor, they often only cause misfiring over small rev ranges. They also don't usually throw an error code when they fail like this.
Thanks.... that kinds reassures me... ive ordered one anyways and should have it within the next 2 days so time will tell :-)rowanxx said:
Coil pack? Mine caused misfire at low revs, degraded in a week to constant misfire then total loss of power.
I did think that, had each coil out one by one and tested with a spare spark plug earthed on the head.. They all seemed to spark equally as good as each other..
(if that makes sense)

Can make a huge difference. My now defunct Passat went from 85 to 130hp with just a new MAF. No errors shown on VAG.com.
Rolling road proof provided, huge difference in MPG too from 40 to 50+
I was amazed that the faulty MAF would case such a drastic change to the car ... Felt like it had 2 cylinders and not 4 :/Rolling road proof provided, huge difference in MPG too from 40 to 50+
