Quick question for people.... My MX-5 has, for a number of reasons, been parked up at my Parents house since early November.

I drove it on Christmas Day, but it hasn't been driven since, and it probably won't move until the middle to end of February again (my parents cannot drive it).

I have placed a decent amount of rice in the car in containers that is dried out weekly and replaced, which seems to be doing a decent job of keeping the dampness inside at bay and I pumped the tyres up slightly more than normal when I last parked it up. Even though the handbrake isn't on (it's in gear), the brakes were seized on at Christmas.

As such - what's the best way of freeing them off when I next get the opportunity to drive it?

It's parked on gravel.... any help useful.

2 choices. Revs and drop the clutch a couple of times, alternate 1st and reverse. Or spanner and large extension on the rear hub.

Basically violence.

I've had this happen to a couple of cars in the past. They were both left in gear with the handbrake off and the brakes seized up like you describe. I freed mine just by driving it away, I had to sort of rock it out if that makes sense... It was properly stuck at first but after a few goes of trying to pull away it was ok. Made an awful grinding noise for a few hundred meters. Once the pads had cleared the corrosion off the discs all was good again.
