Bounced Off

A couple of years back PH forums would require re-logging in on a regular basis. Typically 'the biounce' was signalled by all threads going blue i.e. apparently unvisited and clicking 'My Stuff' got the Sign Up-Log In page. At the time, I seem to recall that end-user software or hardware or both got the blame but it wasn't convincing.

This stopped happening and all has been well for a year or more but today it's back, having been bounced off the servers numerous times and required to re-log in so often it's getting tedious. No hardware or software or ISP changes have taken place. Is anyone else getting this or just me? If it's an isolated case OK, if not then what is it?

If your cookie goes weird you get bounced, it also seems that it happens when we restart some of our servers...

Though I've not worked out why precisely.

Sometime though we have to restart servers so it can happen. Though there should really be a (let's say 30 day? or less) expiry on login cookies anyway which we don't have currently.

Thanks, having ruled out manmade global warming because it's awol and Greenpeas because I see no ships, the weird cookie explanation seems to be where it's at. It's only a log-in anyway (ten times a day)
