tvr man to buy 911 in MK
Discussion
Hi,
I'm currently a TVR S1 owner and wish to move to a 911. I know very little about them at present and was hoping that I might be able to chat to someone about them, pros cons etc. I live in Milton Keynes. Is there anyone out there in MK that could give me a bit of time to chat and have a once over of their 911. I'm looking for a '89-'93 model 964.
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks
Paul Taverner

Theres a guy called 'UK Trucks' who deals in Porsches in and around Milton Keynes. Dunno if he's on here, but he's definitely on Stuttgartnines... here's his profile:

Hi Paul,
Just over a year ago I traded in my S3 for an 1983 911 SC. Generally very pleased, but a few things as an ex-S owner to be aware of:
Engines on a S series being ex-Ford are highly reliable and cheap. In many years of ownership mine never caused any problem and if it had, would probably have been easy to solve. 911 engines are very sound, but at some point will need a top end re-build and possibly even a bottom end rebuild. Try and get one that has already had the work done, and also don't skimp on an independent check - including compression check.
The standard exhaust is a bit of a let down after an S. I've just had a full SSI exhaust installed and can thoroughly recommend it -it at last sounds like a proper sports car - but it isn't cheap.
Its also interesting that owners of new TVRs tend to wave to all other TVR owners
- not so Porsche. There is definate 'age' snobbery at work. And members of the public do tend to react very differently to finding out you own a Porsche to a TVR.
However - don't let any of the above put you off. 911s of any age are great cars and if you get a good one you certainly won't regret it.
