Crystal Topaz RIP

Sadly I have been advised that this colour will no longer be available. So I suppose its good news that my Spectraflair Topaz Tusc S is fast becoming a good alternative. I have some, in all honesty crap factory pics which if anyone is interested and tells me how to do it I will post. Otherwise I will post them on here when I actually see the car finished. Only a couple of weeks to go !!!
I was told that in the not too distant future N.S. wants to greatly reduce colour options. Crystal Topaz whilst popular with the customers has always been a bit of a pain to the factory as it is a water based paint. (why this should be so I dont pretend to know, its just info I was given, and am passing on. )
Our Griff is flipflop yellow (same as the 500 publicity Griff)and I believe only 5 were sprayed in this colour. They stopped doing it as it can't be matched - every time they mixed it the colour on the car was different.
Hence the numpty that reversed into it is now having to fund a full respray.
I have been told to change it but this is a beautiful colour and as it is so rare no way are we doing that.
PS it is water based so not sure if that is a common thread???

BTW Ben Samuelson told us the Candy Apple Red Sagaris that was at Le Mans would be a stupid sum (five figure as I recall) to respray, something to do with the colour effect being in the lower coats of lacquer (?), shame as it looked fantastic.

Ben told me the same, You could have the colour but 'Gerbil' who painted it had such a nightmare getting the finish that there is now a £20k price tag on the colour!
When I 1st saw that colour I begged for it. Gerbil told me last week its not available at any price due to the man hours involved. Begs the question, "why do it in the 1st place"?. This also applies to the gorgeous wheels which were fitted to the show Sag. I know these doodats show the car at its best, but it would be nice to have the option to purchase. Even the IMHO gorgeous new wheel centres in white with black TVR logo are not available.

I take it that you are referring to Martins go-cart (sorry Martin) wonderful Caterham I should say!
.Still having trouble locating said article of underwear, but worth it for the wonderful ride

The press griff was a one off colour. It was never matched for cars after that. The closet one to it was the White Elephant of all cars...!

Candy Apple Red was discontinued YEARS ago cos of the problems with fading and matching, thats why NightFire pearl red was brought in.
It was on the press V8S and on a lot of griffs/cerbs. It suited those cars very well.
Cant belive they are bringing it back - must be because I asked Gerbil to paint my Tamiya Monster Beelel in that colour

Crystal Topaz is just a standard Alfa (i.e. Fiat) colour, as far as I know... isn't it? Think it's the same one you see quite often on Puntos, an sometimes on 156s and 147s.
If TVR stop letting you pick any company's colour, it'll be a sad step backwards for a manufacturer that exists basically because of the individuality of its customers. Ho hum...

More gold in the Alfa paint, Nuvola Blue thats called, Ask Beano500
TVR say all sorts of things, get a ICI paintcode and they will do what you pay for
