Ok a 'sort of' what car. The company Seat is going soon. I've been asked to choose something with a P11D value up to £17500. Need a big car with low emissions and cheap as poss on the tax. Any ideas??!!

Cheap, big car, low on tax. Sounds like you're after a Dacia Duster.

Hmm - not easy. Depends on how big is 'big? You could get into a 1.3 CDTI Astra, or 1.4T (petrol) Design Insigia Hatchback, Skoda Octavia 1.2TSI SE Hatch, Renault Captur, Peugeot 308 Active, and possibly just about a Golf 1.2 TSI S 5dr.

Is this not why the Mondeo and Insignia exist?

is it not still possible to get crew-cab pickups as commercial vehicles incurring a fraction the tax of other road cars? Nissan Navarro etc

Yes but the only fully equipped (hard top canopy) double cab pickup that I can think of which is under £18k is the Great Wall Steed.

Thanks for the tips people, updated today it's £15750. Not great tbh but hey. I'm thinking petrol and low emissions because petrol cars retail for less than equivalent derv models.

Can you even get a mondeo or insignia less than £15750? Sounds like you need something Kia, Suzuki or Hyundai?

It's confusing! P11D values are not list prices?! 3 years ago 15750 just got the Ibiza tdi. Car prices go up but the allowance doesn't. I tried to order a 1.3 derv Astra last time but no. Then a base golf but no.

Do you still have to pay the options up front?

I don't have to pay anything. Just choose up to the value limit and not a 3 door. I can't upgrade even if I cough up. Difficult to find a decent size car, I'm 6 ft so is the bread knife and the 3 of us are about to become 4!! Focus or golf would do but it's not quite enough
