I'm looking for standard rear brake pads for my 4.0 with solid disks. I can't seem to find any other than track day type fast road pads which cost a fotune and I dont need. I was hoping for standard Pagid pads as they are decent quality, has anyone got any serial numbers/links? The moment I ask at certain car autospare shops, the word TVR seems to make sharp intakes of breath from sales assistants. Surley there is a ford equivalent?

Good find Simon, nice to know that seller is a subsidiary of Euro Car Parts, saves me a trip to the other side of town next time I do the brakes thumbup

I'm running Pagid Professional pads & discs front & rear from Euro Car Parts, Pagid definitely make good brakes mine have worn well, the pads dont dust or squeal, disc life is excellent & they work properly right from cold.

Just an excellent all round good quality pad & disc combination that gives powerful & consistent braking and never come close to fading even during a bit of fast road driving, I've been very happy with them and they're great value too.

I did new Pagid Professional discs & pads all round the full set costing me about £90 if I remember correctly .

Bargain!

At just £90 for the lot I figured I may as well just replace everything at the same time, all in the matching Pagid brand.

I'll try & dig out the Euro Car Parts part numbers later and post them up here.

Dave.

Hi Dave, fit Pagid & Mintex all the time at the shop never had to back any discs or pads so far, If anyone gets sold Eicher brand from ECP the discs are good but FFS do not use the pads they are noisy from BMW to VW I refused to use them in the end on the price work jobs in the finish frown TRW/Delphi/Mintex/ATE/Gutmann should all be brands you can trust yes

The standard replacement pads weren't expensive from TVR Power.
Racing Green, Clever Trevor and Racetech Direct would likely all do something similar at similar prices.
These things are often as simple as they should be - standard brake pads are one of those things, just go to your favourite TVR parts supplier smile

edit for spelling

You cannot go wrong with the standard Pagid stuff, quality is second to none.

They were on my ebay 'watch list' as well. But I don't need any yet, even with enthusiastic use. biggrin

Don't be so sure about the quality being 'second to none'. On the Porsche forum, a few users have had bad experiences with Pagid being OEM quality, and then turning out not to be so.

the goose: "Pagid are a good brand - but it seems they are abusing this name by selling cheap discs & pads at low headline prices at Euro Car Parts - I know of at least 3 Porsche specialists who've told me they won't fit them anymore due to problems (warping from enthusiastic use I think) which they never see with the other brands they fit."

nickfrog: "I trusted the Pagid brand and fitted their discs and pads to my 987. I had bought them from ECP. I bedded them in properly before using them and a few weeks later at Bedford the pads literally fused on the discs after 1 sighting lap, removing most of the braking power. I tried all morning to remove the residue using different techniques but to no avail. Prior to that I was using old and tired OE Porsche pads on the same car which never faded.

I have spoken to several indies too who only fit Textar pads now. I did the same and they were perfect, exactly like the OE pads, which I think they are. They cleaned off the discs in 2 weeks and then didn't fade on track under the same conditions.

I am sure for road use the cheapo Pagid would be OK but for a few quid more...

It would appear that ECP have the exclusive use of the Pagid brand in the UK for entry level pads and will put any (possibly Chinese) compound in the box...."

Next time you get pagids from ecp, quite often they are a different brand with a pagid sticker. My Mrs works in the trade and ecp sell some god awful crap! She gets very good reports back from delphi though which I'd never really heard of before.

I had Delphi pads on mine. They didn't like sustained heavy use. One track day killed them. I had Mintex discs and pads fitted when my chassis was being done and they feel excellent.
