I agree. Pointless, but I doubt the mods are going to change it back.
They had a thread on here asking for opinions but I think that was just a token gesture as the way I read it the majority preferred the old way, but like I say nothing has been done to revert it.
Just click "Porsche" above the sub-categories and you get everything anyway.

Agreed. This forum seems quieter than it used to be, not sure if it's the forum changes or just general decline in use. It's easy enough to view all discussions in one go but the forum split wasn't needed IMO, it's just segmented everything for the sake of it rather than to solve a problem.

There is a marked reduction in the number of 944-related posts (my personal interest) than there used to be.I was broadly in favour of a change due to all of the repetitive 996 prattle that the original forum was inundated with, but this certainly isn't working as it is.
The last post on the long-running "merge it back" thread was to wait three months and review.

I think it's clear from the fact that it's been raised again, it's not a change welcomed by most of the Porsche forum users.
Sadly, we're just advert-fodder so perhaps more forums means more income? Fair enough, as we don't pay directly for the site, do we, so I guess the best way to sell it to the advertisers has to be the only important thing they consider.

Sure advertisers would prefer a broader range of people with more in total seeing their advert. PH needs to consider their main customers - the readers first. If you keep the reader happy they can monetise it.
There may or may not be fewer people hitting the Porsche section, but they do need to keep an eye on customer satisfaction, if that starts to decline it's hard to get users back.

I don't know if PH can get stats for this but I'd be pretty sure a lot fewer users are seeing the stickies (inc adverts) at all since the split - they only appear at the top of the "General" section so anyone clicking the Group link at the top so that they see all threads grouped together won't see them, nor will anyone who goes direct to the other sub-forums.PH needs to consider their main customers - the readers first. If that's the case then the split is doing the advertisers a dis-service as well as dis-satisfying the majority of users - a lose-lose scenario
