Does anyone here know of it?

We're considering buying there, the house is close to perfect for us but we don't know the area at all. The primary school seems good and the commute to SW Coventry is manageable if a bit of a schlep. Google isn't yielding much, not even mumsnet (hides in shame...)

Any insights / insider knowledge gratefully received!

You're pretty close to Brownsover and Biart Place is just on the way in to town (not the best parts of town those two).

Nice enough village but for Sw Coventry you're best looking to Dunchurch or the Woodlands estate. Straight on to the A45 and away you go.

The commute from Rugby into SW Coventry is going to be a PITA for the next few years with the work at the A45/A46 junction. Until last year I lived on the west side of Rugby (Bliton) and commuted to SW Coventry (near Warwick uni) most of the time it took 45 minutes. For getting to SW Coventry I'd be looking further south.

http://www.cliftonupondunsmore.org.uk/ gives info on the village, particularly with reference to a BT development and DIRFT.
As for a commute to SW Coventry- route 1 - M6 J1-2. J2 is possibly not so much of a nightmare now as improvements have been made., but there's the A46 and in particular the notorious A45/46 island ( AKA "Kami Kazi " island).
Route 2 - through Rugby and use the relief road to get on to the A428, and on to the A46 at Brandon. Again same problems with A45/46 island.
Route 3- I'd head through the lanes to aim at getting on to bypass the A45/46 island and end up on the Stonebridge island .

I personally wouldn't choose Clifton as a first choice, especially if was going to commute to the Warwick Uni locality. With the development on the old Rugby aerial site adding ~6000 houses on the doorstep and the difficulty in commuting for the next two years because of the work at Baginton, I would be looking at somewhere around Kenilworth, Warwick or one of the villages towards Stratford.

Crime is a concern in Clifton too - an ex work colleague lives there and he had his motorcycle stolen from the garage, and neighbours have had multiple burglaries.

Thanks all, helpful insights. A mixed bag I guess. Awkward commute and questionable area, which is a shame as the house is stunning. We've been looking for a while now and with a healthy budget but nothing we can afford has come our way. I guess it's only going to get more difficult with the media fanning the flames of another property boom.
