Just wanted to thank Mike and his team for sorting out my V8 Vantage.
A while ago it developed a serious engine problem which Mike diagnosed and subsequently addressed for me. Now my bank account has developed a serious problem! However that cant be helped - it had to be done!
What I had not bargained for was the _massive_ improvement to the manual gear change. During doing the work Mike said the gear linkage was worn and needed replacing. What I got was a shift which is almost as slick as my Honda Type-R (EP3). That was unexpected! Previously the shift was rather, well, 'agricultural' and I thought that was just the way it was. I guess that unless you have driven many Astons, you don't know what to expect. One of the advantages in taking it to someone who _really_ knows Astons is that they know when something is not up to scratch.
Anyway, I am well pleased with the improvements and my 'sorted' engine.
Thanks Mike and team.
Tony.

Sure, my car had a history of a misfire during startup on one particular cylinder - but this was only just noticeable by me and really revealed itself by regular inspection of the pending fault codes (I use Android Torque and a Bluetooth ODB2 module). Post startup the car seemed fine. Then the car developed what I thought was a starter motor fault. Once in a while the starter failed to turn the engine. A few more tries and it would start OK. However this got worse over time and then the car developed a noticeable misfire under hard acceleration. Also the car was loosing coolant - which I thought was a coolant leak, but could not find any evidence of where the leak might be. I was getting worried at this point because my own investigation (Google) indicated this could be a serious problem (hydrolicing!). This is when I got Mike involved. They collected the car from me (I didnt want to drive it to them) and diagnosed a head gasket failure - they could detect exhaust gasses in the coolant system. BR tell me this is _very_ uncommon on the V8 engine (unlucky me!). It seems coolant had been leaking into one of the cylinders (number 3). Turns out this had also caused a CAT failure.
BR worked their magic (an engine re-build and a few other upgrades) and now I have a much improved car to put a smile on my face :-) It was worth the expense!
