Hi All,
I'm currently contemplating moving into a V12V from a DB9 and would like to know how you have got on with your clutch?
A little bird has suggested to me to not expect much beyond 20k miles - does this ring true or should I be banking on better?

I had mine replaced under warranty with 9000 miles on it but due to the "squawk" and not wear. The dealer told me they've not changed a V12V clutch due to wear yet and to be honest, I don't there's an issue with them.

I don't think you'll find many V12Vs that have done 20k miles. The clutch is much better then the V8V and reversing is a lot easier than in my old V8V. I also find pulling away in first, second or third gear and then changing into sixth saves four or five gear changes so I use the clutch less. I'd expect more than 20k miles out of it.

I made the move last year and love having gone back to a manual and love it. As to how long the clutches last guess to a great extent it depends on your driving style and usage.

Try and hunt out a V12V containing a log book with the name 'J. Gladman' in it.

Ok, it will be on its third clutch but at least it will be a fairly new one smile

Go drive one. Drive it like you stole it and I promise, you'll forget you ever asked that question.

P.S I've never heard of any clutch issues on a V12

Thank god we don't have to discuss replacing clutches for sintered, twin plate and lightened ones. Those V8 chaps have got themselves into a right old lather about it!

My clutch was also replaced due to the squeak at 13k miles. There was however no problem with its operation at that point...

I think mine was done at about 3k miles for the squeak. Now on nearly 16k miles and no signs of any issues. AFAIK they are not an issue in the V12. Obviously I have a V12 in a propet grown up Aston wink

My old-blokes grown up DBS clutch was also replaced under warranty (because of the squeal, not wear).

A 2nd replacement was also carried out for reasons best known to AML.

I drive my V12V now 30,000 km and still with the first clutch. And I have even a little bit more torque (600Nm :-)); until now, no problems.

oi you. Clutches are fine, it was the brakes & tyres that got the grief yes

OP, the clutches are twin plate in the V12V and much better than the standard V8V single clutch.

12000 miles so far and the clutch in my V12V feels like new.

I had to have the clutch replaced in my DB9 (bought with 5000 miles on the clock - clutch went after 2000 miles and I drove another 5000 on the new one before I sold it - destroyed by previous owner and a very poor dealer driver who left it smoking so badly that I smelt it from a hundred yards down the road)

Don't know what the fuss is about V8 clutches - mines easy to use, lighter than my previous M3 and still working perfectly at 45k miles.

Heh heh, also thinking about the DBS but didn't want to open the V12V vs DBS competition again paperbag

Thanks, everyone, for you inputs. As it happens AM Works have one at 20k, and there are a couple in the high teens too.

My V12V has a clutch? Why?

I just select FORWARD and the noisey bit under the bonnet does the rest.

(In all seriousness, my car got a new clutch FOC due to the squealing issue, not because of wear)
