I have a 2013 C63 coupe and have managed to get 11500 miles from the 1st set of conti sport 3's.
Before I took delivery of the car I was rather concerned about hearing of tyres lasting 4-5k but no such problem here, I must be doing something wrong!. Anyhow I would appreciate if anyone could help answering the following questions.

1. Would anyone recommend any other brands or are the conti's about as good as it gets when it comes to longevity?

2. The car is on lease and will be going back to Mercedes at 20k miles so would rather not have to buy another set before it goes back, does anyone know what the minimum tread depth Mercedes stipulate at the end of a lease?

3. Do Mercedes accept any tyre brand when the car is returned (as long as it has enough tread) or do they need to be top brand XL MO fitment?

Thanks

Check the finance contract for particulars on the tyre situation. It will probably state MB approved, as they will have to replace all if the tyres if you put some Chinese muck on there, a cost which they would pass on to you.

Very happy to hear they have lasted that long, puts me at ease, as I was worried from some of the stories of 4-5k.

If the lease doesn't specify, then I would go with Michelin Pilot Super Sport. My rears need replacing and I'll probably upsize to 265/30/19.

I am interested that your car was supplied with the Conti Sport Contact 3 tyre. I had thought the designated Conti tyre was the Conti Sport Contact 5P ? Perhaps this is why you got 11500miles out of them, presumably a little harder compound than the 5P and thus better wearing??

I switched to Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta aftee my Contis died. Had the vreds on my RS6 and M5 and have been more than happy with the quality and performance. You just have to give them a few miles to scrub in.

Another vote for the Vred's - I honesty don't think there is a better tyre for the money!

Thanks for the recommendations, do you know if they are MO XL?

About 8k miles out of my original Conti3's on the rear, now wearing MPSS - MPSS definitely have far superior dry grip, but not as much grip or feedback in the wet as the Conti's in my opinion.

Now approaching 11k miles the fronts will need replacing soon... I'll probably go MPSS in the hope it'll eventually stop raining, giving me awesome dry grip in the Spring & Summer smile

MPSS are proving quite resistant to wear on the rear, I don't slide it around though (much) biggrin
