Paul, I read that PS2s are better then PS3s. My previous set were PS3s they lasted forever and still had plenty of tread before I replaced them with Toyo RA1s. What kind of tires are you running now? Jim
I currently have a set of Pirelli's for the road if wet and a set of Khumo's for the track/dry road.Paul
I have had Michelin's on the GTR FOR 14,000 miles and two track days and they are still in reasonable condition. They do not tramline at all and they do not have a out of round condition until warm which is the case with the Continentals which I just put on my BMW x5. I have driven them in the rain (not by choice) and they have done very well. I guess the best thing I can say is that I plan for Michelins on the car in the future. Lee

Interesting comments..... I'll need to replace my Kumhos this yr, so might look at the PS2s. I hope they're better than the Super Sports, which were anything other than "Super" when I ran them on my RS
Surprised with this, all the cars I know with them on the owners cannot praise them enough.
The issue with the Super Sports on my 370bhp Focus RS was that after a few heat cycles (road & track) they turned to stone. They had no grip regardless of temp and become utterly frustrating. They outlasted my Conti Sport Contact 5Ps by double the mileage, but for 4K miles they were by far the worst tyre I've used on a performance car. For the first 4K miles they felt good an had good grip, but after they seen some use they utterly gave up and wouldn't come back to life. Maybe I pushed them harder than others have, but I've never had another tyre do this before or since.

This is good to know as I was going to replace the AD08's I have at the moment with these at the next change. Are the Goodyear Ass2 available in Ultima sizes? Or the Pirelli Corsa's both for the road I mean?
We've had super sports on a gt3 RS for 4k miles, 2 track days including a hot bedford summer one, and a 2k alpine trip and they're still great. Will need replacing after the next day, but I think they're outstanding.
Kumhos on anything worse than a mild dry day are pretty poor as a road tyre, very exciting if you get caught in a downpour on a motorway :Dbut on a dry track they're superb.
If I wasn't intending on tracking the Ultima, I'd probably run it with michelins.

Rubber compounds can be very sensitive to heat cycles and using a road tyre on the track can overheat the compound especially if the tyre is allowed to cool quickly. You can even feel it with your fingernail.
It is very difficult to overheat a tyre on the road in the same way.
Even a track tyre will perform differently each time you use it. The first outing will have more grip than the last (everything else being equal).
I have experienced the bowel moving effect of Khumos on a wet motorway so my solution is 2 sets of wheels, one with track tyres and the other with road ones. It may be a bit of a luxury but it is a lot safer.
By the sound of the above comments the Michelin PS2 get a pretty good 'thumbs up'.
