Looks awesome in blue, i'd love one of these. Any plans for it? I'd keep it standard myself but i'm boring when it comes to mods.
Thanks, I'm actually after a set of standard wheels - in the future I'll likely invest some breathing mods.. just to let out the angry sounds I know this car wants to make!I had one of these after my CTR and it was excellent. Championship white, Red Recaros, C pack and the important but expensive parcel shelf! One of the best things that you can do to it is get the geometry checked and adjusted if required. It transformed mine. A set of camber bolts and some adjustable rear arms allows optimal settings. Get yourself a nice exhaust (I had a Kakimoto Regu 06-R) and enjoy the 8500rpm red line. I will always remember a particular uphill left hand corner on my way home, chuck it in, get on the power, feel the diff work its magic and laugh as you exit. Brillant.

Sounds great! I also have the parcel shelf
Thanks for that, I'll keep that in mind, the car will soon be going to TGM Sport for a service and health check. Once I'm feeling a bit more flush I'll perhaps have the geo looked at I'll be going for one of these next year when my current finance deal is up.
It'll have to be white with white wheels though, even though the blue does look very nice!
What are they like on fuel when driving around town? You hear a lot about Honda reliabilty so how do these compare? Seeing as they are 10+ years old now...

Fwiw, I had an EP3, same engine, marginally lower state of tune than the DC5, and I never really saw above 25mpg. If you care about what a car is like to drive "around town", I wouldn't bother with a Type R. If you do a lot of town driving I doubt you'll see higher than 25 mpg. I did use the VTEC a fair bit, but driving at low speeds, with those short gears, you'll be using more revs than you might expect, and not that comfortable either. It'll have to be white with white wheels though, even though the blue does look very nice!

My previous car was a MK1 Focus RS so I know what it's like to own a car thats bad on fuel around town!
I do the majority of my driving around town to work but I buy a car for the weekend hoon into N.Wales. It's just nice to know what sort of figures to expect that's all. What RPM do they sit at when doing 70mph?

It seems to return ~30mpg on average.. it isn't as good on fuel as the 3.0 Z4 it replaced! It'll have to be white with white wheels though, even though the blue does look very nice!

Like most owners I only run mine on V-Power (mapped for Japan's 100Ron fuel as standard) But economy will disappear from your mind as soon as you get it above 6k rpm

Assuming the gearing is similar, my EP3 was doing 3600rpm at 70mph in 6th gear iirc. Expect similar from the DC5.

I have not long bought an EP3, and I'm totally bitten with the Type R bug now. I really wanted a DC5 or DC2 but couldn't afford a DC5, and the DC2's in my budget were in bad condition. A DC5 will be the next car for me unless I can find a minter of a DC2.
I like the blue, don't see many about, but I will probably end up with the good old Honda white.
Please keep the thread updated regularly, always nice to see a decent 'Teg. I'm slowly getting my EP3 more presentable and maintained to a high standard now.
